Senior Project Manager - Mechanical ConstructionJob Description The Senior Project Manager - Mechanical Construction leads large-scale mechanical construction projects across multiple locations, with a focus on complex industrial environments such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, and pharmaceutical plants. This role requires a seasoned professional who operates independently with minimal oversight, provides strong leadership to project teams, and consistently delivers projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The position involves frequent collaboration with internal teams and external partners and includes travel to active project sites as needed. Responsibilities + Provide strong leadership to project teams, including Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, subcontractors, and field personnel, ensuring clear direction and accountability. + Build and maintain productive relationships with general contractors, owners, engineers, and architects to support successful project delivery. + Support business development efforts by leveraging professional relationships and demonstrating strong project performance. + Lead pre-construction activities, including planning, scheduling, and coordination for large or multiple concurrent mechanical construction projects. + Take full ownership of project outcomes, including schedule, budget, safety, and quality, and proactively address risks and issues. + Solve complex project challenges related to design conflicts, construction sequencing, manpower planning, and resource allocation. + Develop, review, and approve project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor allocations. + Manage subcontractors to ensure adherence to project timelines, scope, safety requirements, and budget constraints. + Negotiate and execute subcontract agreements with vendors and trade partners in alignment with project goals and company standards. + Manage project financials, including profitability, cash flow, and cost projections, to meet or exceed financial targets. + Implement monthly cost reports, monitor job cost performance, and ensure accurate financial forecasting. + Identify, prepare, and submit change orders, ensuring proper documentation, pricing, and negotiation with project stakeholders. + Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices to ensure accuracy and alignment with contract terms. + Ensure compliance with all safety standards, regulations, and company procedures on all project sites. + Actively participate in design coordination and conflict resolution across all trades to prevent rework and delays. + Lead the submittal process, Requests for Information (RFIs), and change management workflows to maintain project clarity and control. + Identify and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources to support efficient project execution. + Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company policies and promoting a strong safety culture. + Train and mentor estimating staff on the technical aspects of project management and mechanical construction. + Professionally solicit and qualify vendors and suppliers during procurement to secure competitive pricing and reliable performance. + Coordinate daily with superintendents and field teams to align office planning with field execution. + Provide direct supervision of subcontractors and direct oversight of Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers. + Offer indirect leadership and guidance to field personnel and internal support services to ensure cohesive project delivery. Essential Skills + Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with internal teams and external stakeholders. + High dependability, availability, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction office environment while managing multiple priorities. + Strong organizational skills and document management capabilities for handling project records, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. + Mechanical knowledge and deep understanding of construction procedures, particularly in mechanical systems and installations. + Proficiency in project management principles and best practices, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management. + Ability to coordinate daily with superintendents and field teams to ensure alignment between planning and field activities. + Aptitude for learning and adopting new systems and technologies related to construction and project management. +Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred. +Experience:
10+ years of relevant mechanical construction project management experience in lieu of a degree, if applicable. + Minimum 4 years of experience leading large, multi-million-dollar mechanical construction projects. + Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager for a mechanical subcontractor. + Required experience with piping systems on industrial projects, including data centers, semiconductor facilities, and pharmaceutical or similar environments. + Demonstrated experience managing mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. + Experience in supervising subcontractors and overseeing Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Preferred experience with Bluebeam for document review, markups, and coordination. + Preferred experience with Procore or similar construction project management software. + Mechanical piping experience, particularly in complex industrial and process environments. + Experience in pharmaceutical and healthcare projects, including adherence to specialized standards and protocols. + Background in the field prior to moving into project management, with 10+ years of PM experience, is strongly encouraged. + Strong change order management skills, including identification, pricing, negotiation, and documentation. + Experience with RFIs, project coordination, and construction documentation workflows. + Technical understanding of CAD, fabrication processes, and field installation practices. + Professional experience in project management, construction, construction management, mechanical engineering, and mechanical systems. + Ability to professionally solicit and evaluate vendors and suppliers to support competitive and reliable procurement. Work Environment This is an on-site role based primarily in a fast-paced construction office environment with regular visits to active project sites. The Senior Project Manager works closely with field teams, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trade partners in industrial settings such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical plants, and healthcare environments. The position involves managing multiple large projects across various locations, which may require travel to job sites as needed. You will work with modern construction technologies and tools, including project management platforms and digital collaboration software, while coordinating with CAD, fabrication, and field operations teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Conyers, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $87.00/hr.
