Job Description

Job Summary - Project Manager, Energy & Power Systems We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager, Energy & Power Systems to lead the successful execution of renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects in Kahului, Hawaii. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle from contract award through project closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction project management with hands-on experience in solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), generators, EV charging infrastructure, and utility coordination. This position requires a collaborative leader who can effectively coordinate with clients, engineers, utility providers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams while proactively managing project risks, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. The Project Manager will play a key role in design-build project execution by supporting preconstruction activities, validating constructability, reviewing scope definitions, managing utility interconnection processes, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and utility incentive programs. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, financial accountability, and exceptional communication skills to support the company's mission of building resilient and sustainable energy solutions across Hawaii. Key Responsibilities Manage the complete project lifecycle from contract award through project completion and closeout. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and reporting processes. Lead design-build energy projects including solar PV, battery storage systems (BESS), generators, and EV charging infrastructure. Collaborate with Business Development and Pre-Construction teams to review project scope, constructability, execution strategies, schedules, and project risks. Coordinate with clients, engineers, utility companies, AHJs, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Manage utility interconnection applications, service upgrades, make-ready programs, and utility capacity requests. Ensure compliance with incentive and rebate programs including ITC, RETITC, BYOD, and utility rebate requirements. Monitor project performance indicators including labor gain/fade, commodities gain/fade, project costs, and financial reporting. Identify and mitigate project risks, scope changes, schedule impacts, and budget variances. Prepare and maintain project documentation including project plans, meeting agendas, action items, observation reports, and milestone tracking. Support contract review and negotiations by providing technical and operational input. Mentor and support junior project management staff as needed. Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high levels of client satisfaction throughout project execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Engineering degree preferred. Minimum 4 years of construction project management experience. Minimum 2 years of solar construction experience. Experience managing preconstruction activities and project portfolios. Strong understanding of renewable energy systems, electrical infrastructure, and utility coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and project management software platforms. Strong budgeting, financial tracking, and project reporting experience. Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and conflict management skills. Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications NABCEP Certification preferred. Manufacturer certifications from inverter or battery storage OEMs preferred. Experience with renewable energy incentive programs and utility rebate processes. Experience with customer relationship management and stakeholder coordination.
