Elevated Roofing | Northwest Illinois $50,000-$85,000 base annual compensation depending on experience + overtime Full-time, year-round position Target start: February 2027 Elevated Roofing is looking for a Field Manager / Project Supervisor to become a key part of our company and eventually take ownership of our day-to-day field production. We're willing to train the right person. Roofing or construction experience is preferred, but it isn't required. What matters most to us is integrity, leadership ability, common sense, organization, accountability and the ability to learn. At the same time, if you already have strong roofing, construction or field-management experience, we're willing to pay for that experience. The compensation range is intentionally wide because we're open to developing the right person or hiring somebody who can step into the position with considerably more experience. This is not a sales position and it's not a desk job. This is a hands-on field-management position for somebody who wants responsibility, independence and the opportunity to become an important part of our company. Compensation & Benefits $50,000-$85,000 base annual compensation depending on experience Overtime paid in addition to base compensation when applicable Year-round employment 401(k) with company match Company service truck for work use Company-paid fuel for work use Company phone One week paid PTO Company-paid training for the position The Schedule Roofing is seasonal and weather dependent, and we want to be upfront about what that means. Our busiest production season is generally April through October. During busy stretches, there will absolutely be 50-hour weeks. A typical full production day is approximately 7:00 AM-5:00 PM. There will also be shorter weeks. Rain, storms, temperature and other weather conditions can shut production down or change the schedule quickly. When weather costs us production days, we may need to take advantage of the next available weather window. That can occasionally mean Saturday or Sunday work. Weekend work is not the normal schedule, but flexibility is part of working in roofing. Overtime is paid when applicable. Shorter weather weeks do not turn this into seasonal employment. This is a year-round position . As roofing production slows in late fall, winter and early spring, the workload and pace slow substantially as well. Offseason responsibilities may include training, roof repairs and service work, warranty work, equipment and vehicle maintenance, inventory, organization and preparation for the upcoming roofing season.
The tradeoff is pretty simple:
during production season we work hard and take advantage of good roofing weather. During the offseason, the pace is substantially lighter while you still have the stability of year-round employment. What You'll Be Responsible For Once trained, your primary responsibility is making sure the roofs we sell are being built the way they're supposed to be. We normally run no more than two crews at once. You'll move between active projects throughout the day rather than sitting at one roof all day.
Responsibilities include:
Starting jobs with our subcontractor crews and reviewing job-specific requirements Verifying delivered materials before crews begin using them Checking property protection and jobsite safety Inspecting critical stages of installation and workmanship Making sure required photos and documentation are completed Identifying and documenting decking damage and other unexpected conditions Handling normal field problems and material shortages Keeping active projects moving without needing constant direction Communicating basic job progress with homeowners when they're onsite Completing final roof and property inspections Performing drone inspections and final photos Creating and following through on punch lists Investigating production-related callbacks and warranty concerns Making sure workmanship corrections are completed Picking up or returning supplemental materials when necessary Keeping your company service truck clean, organized and properly stocked Maintaining awareness of field inventory, equipment and supplies Reviewing upcoming work and helping prepare production Keeping CompanyCam and JobNimbus production information current Our Owner handles sales, estimates, pricing and original material ordering. Our office handles production scheduling, routine customer communication and administration. Your responsibility is primarily what happens in the field. The Person We're Looking For We're not necessarily looking for the person with the best roofing résumé. We're looking for somebody we can trust.
You should:
Have experience leading, supervising or managing people Have a history of being trusted with responsibility Take ownership when something goes wrong instead of looking for somebody else to blame Be organized and follow through on what you say you're going to do Be able to prioritize when several things are happening at once Be comfortable making decisions without needing permission for every little thing Be willing and able to hold subcontractors accountable when something isn't being done correctly Stay level headed when plans change or problems come up Communicate professionally with crews, homeowners and our office Be mechanically inclined and capable of learning technical information Be comfortable with smartphones, apps, photos and technology Be comfortable working around ladders, roofs and active construction sites Take care of company vehicles, equipment and property like they matter Have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Roofing, construction, skilled trades, manufacturing, logistics, field service or similar experience is preferred but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required. Training We don't expect somebody without roofing experience to walk in on day one and know how to manage a roofing project. We'll teach the right person. Training will include our roofing systems and materials, installation standards, quality control, safety, material verification, flashing and waterproofing details, ventilation, skylights, documentation, CompanyCam, JobNimbus, final inspections, drone inspections and our expectations for subcontractor crews. You'll start with more training and oversight. As you demonstrate knowledge and good judgment, you'll be given more independence and authority. Eventually, we expect you to be able to walk onto a job, understand what's happening, recognize when something isn't right, make normal field decisions and keep the job moving without calling the Owner for permission every time something comes up. If you already have substantial roofing or construction-management experience, your training period will obviously be different and your starting compensation will reflect the experience you're bringing with you. What This Job Is Really Like Construction doesn't always go according to plan. Weather changes. Materials can be wrong. Unexpected conditions get uncovered. Crews make mistakes. A homeowner may have a question while another job needs material and another crew has uncovered bad decking. That's the job. We're looking for somebody who can think, prioritize, make decisions and keep moving without losing their head. You'll have significant independence once you're trained. We don't want to micromanage you, and we don't want you calling for permission on every normal field decision. But with that independence comes accountability, and you'll be held to a high standard. We're looking for somebody who wants more than another job. We want somebody who wants a long-term career, wants responsibility and wants the opportunity to become an important part of Elevated Roofing.
