Solar Project Manager Green Attic is hiring a full-time Solar Project Manager to oversee residential and commercial solar installations throughout the Chicagoland area. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on knowledge of solar PV installation, project coordination, permitting, inspections, electrical requirements, and jobsite management who can take ownership of projects from approved sale through installation, inspection, and final closeout. The Solar Project Manager will coordinate crews, materials, permits, inspections, customers, vendors, and internal departments while ensuring projects stay on schedule, meet quality standards, and are properly documented.

Chicagoland Responsibilities Manage solar projects from approved estimate through installation and closeout Review project scope, plans, equipment, and installation requirements before work begins Coordinate solar installation crews, electricians, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments Manage project schedules, materials, equipment deliveries, permits, inspections, and jobsite access Coordinate with AHJs, utilities, inspectors, and other parties involved in project completion Visit jobsites to monitor progress, installation quality, safety, and workmanship Identify installation conflicts or project risks before they cause delays Coordinate roofing and structural requirements when solar installations involve roof work Track project photos, notes, approvals, change orders, inspection results, and closeout documentation Communicate project status clearly with customers, crews, office staff, vendors, and sales teams Resolve scheduling, material, inspection, customer, and field issues quickly Ensure installations follow approved plans, manufacturer requirements, and applicable safety standards Maintain clear project documentation and ensure projects are ready for inspection and final completion Manage multiple active solar projects simultaneously without constant follow-up Enforce company safety procedures, including fall protection, electrical safety, and required PPE Requirements Solar project management, solar installation, or solar field coordination experience required Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial solar PV systems Experience managing solar projects from pre-construction through installation and inspection Understanding of solar plans, layouts, equipment, electrical components, and installation requirements Experience coordinating permits, inspections, AHJs, utilities, subcontractors, and installation crews Ability to review project scopes and identify potential field conflicts before installation Experience with rooftop solar installations Familiarity with batteries and energy storage systems is a strong plus Commercial solar experience is a plus Roofing experience is a plus, especially on projects involving roof-mounted systems Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Comfortable communicating directly with customers, field crews, inspectors, vendors, and internal teams Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Able to work from the Schiller Park office and visit jobsites throughout Chicagoland Able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines independently What We're Looking For We are looking for a highly organized, technically capable Solar Project Manager who takes ownership of projects instead of waiting to be told what to do next . The ideal candidate understands both the field and administrative sides of solar construction, can coordinate installers, electricians, inspectors, vendors, and customers, and knows how to keep projects moving when unexpected issues arise. This person should be comfortable reviewing plans, walking jobsites, solving installation problems, maintaining accurate documentation, and driving each project from approved scope through successful installation, inspection, and closeout.
