Job Description
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout. The role requires hands-on technical knowledge of MEP systems and strong project management skills to deliver commercial and industrial construction projects on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards. The MEP Project Manager will coordinate design review, procurement, subcontractors, field teams, and client stakeholders while managing budgets, schedules, RFIs, change orders, submittals, and project forecasting.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage MEP scope for commercial and industrial construction projects from planning through closeout, ensuring project objectives for schedule, budget, quality, and safety are met.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, track milestones, and coordinate sequencing with general contractors and trades.
Prepare, review, and manage budgets, cost forecasts, and cash flow; identify variances and implement corrective actions to maintain financial performance.
Manage the RFI, submittal, and change order processes; review technical submittals and coordinate timely responses to RFIs to avoid schedule impacts.
Oversee procurement and materials management, including long lead items for mechanical, HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing systems.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and internal field teams; conduct regular site visits and progress meetings to ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
Collaborate with design teams and engineers to resolve design issues, value engineer systems, and ensure constructability of MEP solutions.
Prepare and deliver regular project reports, forecasts, and client communications; lead project meetings and present status updates to stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations; enforce company safety policies and lead safety planning on projects.
Mentor and develop junior staff, foster teamwork, and promote continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience in MEP construction will be considered.
Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience managing MEP projects in commercial or industrial construction settings.
Proven technical knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing.
Strong project management skills with experience in budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, and cost control; PMP certification preferred.
Practical experience with RFIs, change orders, submittals, contract administration, and subcontractor management.
Demonstrated ability to read and review construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating owners, engineers, and general contractors.
Proficiency with project management software and tools; familiarity with construction schedule and cost platforms.
Commitment to jobsite safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to travel between job sites and work a flexible schedule to meet project demands.
