Engineering Project Technician / Designer T. Baker Smith is seeking talented Project Technicians and Designers with civil design experience to support our growing teams throughout Louisiana and Texas!
Your Opportunity:
Review, analyze and reduce raw data from field operations. Prepares designs, drawings, reports, and calculations for the project. Work closely with Environmental Project Managers and Project Teams to obtain project information and ensure drawings are accurate and complete. Helps to Identify improvements to enhance our service to clients. Collaborates on assignments as part of a team involved in the planning, organizing, and developing of projects, and maintains proper documentation and reports. Assist other project teams or departments with technical, field, or other duties as needed or requested.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Drafting and Design. 1-3 years of proven experience in CADD drafting/design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Carlson Survey, ArcGIS Pro software and MS Office. Experience in forestry, wildlife, fisheries, botany, or similar fields is a plus, but not a requirement. Self-motivation and the ability to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail is a must. Willingness to participate in field work occasionally for project opportunities. Experience comes in different forms; many skills are transferable - and passion goes a long way. Position Title Project Technician Accountable To Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager /Lead Professional Target Ratio Direct (billable) hours / Total hours worked 65-95% Position Purpose Primarily responsible for providing technical support to Project Manager by calculating, analyzing, organizing, coordinating, and researching information, preparing drawings, and generally aiding with any other tasks necessary to complete the project. Accountability Chart Responsibilities Technical Tasks on Projects Develop Project Deliverables Collaborates with Project Team Members Task, Quality, Schedule, and Budget Adherence Essential Functions Technical Tasks on Projects Review, analyze and reduce raw data from field operations; process and analyze data. Prepare designs, drawing, reports and calculations for projects. Seamlessly integrating and working with project managers, and project professionals, to produce and alter drawings. Develop Project Deliverables Prepares deliverables as directed by Project Manager, in accordance with firm and client-specific project standards. Collaborates with Project Team Members Assist other project teams or departments with technical, field, or other duties as needed or requested. Task, quality, schedule, and budget adherence Provide assistance in any area necessary to get the work completed according to the project schedule. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, and telephone; talk and hear; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Minimum Requirements Associates degree from an accredited four-year college or from a vocational-technical college in a related field plus 1 year related work experience in the area of work specialization; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience. 1 year of specialized CAD experience in market specific software systems; and experience with agencies specific to market. Ability to operate other computer software and equipment, and basic understanding of computer hardware and software, accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is generally in a typical office environment and is not exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Associate may tour project sites, client offices, and other required places periodically, and thus, is exposed to the noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present at a project site. Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt position, requiring 40+ hours per week. Nights and weekend commitments to the firm, its associates and clients are required.
