Structural/Pipe Fitter (Houma LA)

Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fitter Structural to join our Weeks Marine Houma Shipyard team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and fitting to drawing dimensions of all kinds of structural, plate, pipe and mechanical materials into all types of assemblies in a shipyard setting. Responsibilities Read blueprints, section and plan drawings, and weld symbols to derive measurements, dimensions, and quantity of material needed to fabricate a structure. Unload, sort, and stack heavy steel pieces, then hoist each one into the proper place for fastening. Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates for jackets and decks Lay out and fit pipe, beams, decks and jackets; frame skids, bends, and elevations for jackets; cut plate, pipe, and beams using a cutting torch. Use Come-a-longs, chain falls, and other industry tools and equipment, and install, use, and remove stop plates, dogs, and pad eyes Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity. Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed. Requirements Must live in local commuting area. Able to meet all physical requirements. Must have all required tools Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft) Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

Pay:

$25.50 - $26.75 per hour
