Job Description
Job Overview Responsible for coordinating and completing capital projects across the company at the direction of the operations manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with manager to identify and prioritize projects for completion Makes recommendations to determine if work will be performed in-house or if outside contractors will be used. Designs plant and operational layout to maximize efficiencies and ensure the highest level of quality. Works closely with vendors to obtain bids for work to be performed. Will occasionally negotiate with vendors to ensure the best price for the work to be performed and also to ensure timely completion of a project. Works closely with operations to identify and minimize potential interference with daily operations. Works closely with the Environmental and Safety managers on issue involving environmental and employee safety. Manages projects from inception to completion to ensure work is done accurately, within cost and completed on a timely basis. Observes and complies with all federal, state, local and company safety rules, procedures, practices and regulations.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EXPERIENCE
- Prefer at lease 10 years of experience in ready mix concrete operations or facility maintenance with at least 1 year of operating a ready-mix concrete plant.
- Some experience with designing batch plants or operational processes strongly preferred.
- HS diploma or GED required.
- Degree in engineering or electrical/mechanical field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience negotiating with vendors
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Demonstrated ability to perform simple/basic mathematical calculations.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license. A CDL is a plus.
- Satisfactory driving and criminal record required
- Knowledge of pouring/laying concrete strongly preferred.
- Ability and certification to operate a front-end loader and forklift as necessary.
