POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager at Hatfield Construction is a high-energy, foundational role designed for an ambitious professional ready to grow alongside a premier heavy civil firm. As we scale our operations and tackle increasingly complex regional projects, we are looking for a "right-hand" leader who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will work directly with our Project Managers to drive field results while simultaneously helping us refine the standards and systems that will define Hatfield's future. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for managing project teams, reporting to the supervisor, and ensuring quality control throughout project life cycles are central to the position Accountable for project results Work with the supervisor to complete the project plan outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing Clearly communicate expectations to team members Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to the scope are documented and approved Track, report, and provide status reports to the supervisor Work directly with the Hatfield Construction field supervisor and all other staff to facilitate progress Read/understand plans and build as specified Hold progress meetings, as necessary, with Hatfield Construction staff, employees, clients, architects, etc. Act as a team leader to keep the crew on task to meet the standards of safety and quality Communicate with stakeholders regarding project needs and goals Contribute to the planning and development of projects Research information as required Perform administrative tasks such as preparing invoices, estimating, scheduling, meeting minutes, RFI's, procurement, and daily logs. Inspect construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards Monitor and ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols Analyze drawings and specifications and provide reports as required Assist the project team with sourcing, procurement, and delivery of materials Coordinate activities with subcontractors and vendors Manage construction project budgets Maintain a positive and professional attitude with owners and clients
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Profile Experience:
We are looking for candidates with prior project management experience, ideally with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a relevant construction or project-focused role. Experience in heavy civil construction is considered a significant plus.
Licensure:
Valid Massachusetts Hoisters 2A/1C license and OSHA 10 are required.
Tech Proficiency:
Strong overall computer skills and proficiency in estimating software.
Systems Expertise:
Advanced aptitude for construction management software (Procore) and the ability to interpret complex civil drawings and specifications. Education Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred; equivalent field leadership experience highly valued.
