This role supports all phases of federal construction projects, including estimating, project startup, scheduling, procurement, RFIs, submittals, invoicing, contract administration, cost tracking, quality assurance, safety compliance, project documentation, closeout, and client coordination. Work hours are generally Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work during peak periods. Limited travel throughout the DC Metropolitan area may be required for meetings and project coordination. Duties & Responsibilities Working alongside Project Managers, the Assistant Project Manager will support the bidding, planning, execution, and closeout of design-build and bid-build construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare pre-construction submittals, including submittal logs, transmittals, personnel lists, product data, samples, and approval packages for government representatives, architects, and engineers. Conduct research related to suppliers, manufacturers, subcontractors, contract requirements, and project specifications. Track project processes and provide status updates to project management and administrative teams. This may include coordinating site access, badging, deliveries, subcontractor activities, and submittal approvals. Assist with pricing, equipment rentals, purchase orders, and other project support tasks. Organize and maintain electronic contract and construction files, ensuring accurate management of correspondence, RFIs, reports, drawings, schedules, and sensitive project information. Communicate project progress, challenges, and completed tasks to project teams to maintain coordination and workflow efficiency. Prepare field binders containing approved plans, schedules, drawings, specifications, and submittals. Provide support between field personnel and management teams as needed. Assemble project closeout documentation, including warranties, testing reports, operation and maintenance manuals, waste disposal records, and as-built drawings. Prepare organized closeout packages for distribution to clients, project managers, and contracting officials. Participate in project meetings by assisting with scheduling, agendas, meeting minutes, status reports, and short-term planning updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Experience supporting federal construction projects is preferred. Familiarity with project planning, scheduling, and construction execution. Ability to learn estimating, labor costing, and cost control processes. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with teams and manage multiple priorities. High attention to detail, accountability, and responsiveness. Strong follow-through and time management skills. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, able to pass a background investigation, possess a valid driver's license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Benefits Employees receive:
