Job Description

The hiring salary for this position is $59,172.65 annually. Telework eligibility is determined by county policy and the approval of the hiring department. Charles County Government is seeking a dynamic Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Management Team in Capital Services or Technical Support Division in executing a variety of projects. The work involves record keeping, administration, planning, coordinating, and overseeing project activities to ensure successful on time project delivery, within scope, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and a strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Maintain project files and folders in accordance with file management procedures. Assist project managers in preparation of project templates such as invoices and change orders. Draft memos in compliance with County policies. Review and study project documents including reports, drawings, details, and specifications. Support project managers in performing periodic site visits to view and track construction progress. Assist Project Manager in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets. Help coordinate project activities, resources, and information. Serve as a point of contact for project-related inquiries. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and team members. Track project tasks and milestones. Update schedules and issue logs. Assist in development of scope of work, bid form, and special provisions. Attend public information, design, and construction meetings. Maintain and update various maps. Assist with preparing various presentations and public information meetings. Assist with wage scale administration. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma. Two or more years of experience in project management or a related field.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask with strong organizational skills. Ability to keenly focus on details. Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively. Ability to communicate in writing and orally in an excellent manner. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities. Knowledge with project management and Microsoft 365 is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is partly sedentary with periods of moderate physical activity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Principal duties of this job are performed in a general office environment and requires periodic site visits.
