Job Description
Project Manager | Civil Engineering |Water ResourcesPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a Civil Engineering background and strong Water Resources expertise to lead multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. The role focuses on planning, designing, and delivering water-related and civil site projects ensuring technical quality, schedule and budget adherence, regulatory compliance, and excellent client relationships. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical knowledge with proven project leadership and team management skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects with an emphasis on water resources, stormwater, sewer, and drinking water systems.
Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, invoicing and profitability; prepare and negotiate proposals, fee estimates and contracts.
Provide technical direction and QA/QC for design documents, calculations, modeling, and construction deliverables.
Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, subconsultants and internal resources; assign tasks, monitor progress and mentor junior staff.
Serve as primary client contact; maintain strong client relationships, proactively address issues and represent the firm at meetings and hearings.
Prepare regulatory submittals and coordinate with permitting agencies, stakeholders and utility providers to obtain approvals.
Develop and review plans for storm drainage, civil site design, grading, sediment and erosion control, roadway plans, sewer design and drinking water facilities.
Oversee use of design software and production standards; perform design reviews in Civil 3D or MicroStation where applicable.
Support construction phase services including responding to RFIs, preparing change orders, conducting site visits and ensuring as-built documentation.
Produce technical reports, memos and presentations; communicate complex engineering topics clearly to clients, regulators and non-technical stakeholders.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering (required)Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.8+ years experience in water resources engineering and project management; demonstrated role leading projects from proposal through construction.
Strong technical knowledge of stormwater management, drainage design, sewer design, and drinking water infrastructure.
Experience with civil site design, grading plans, sediment and erosion control measures, and roadway plan development.
Proficient in Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with client-facing experience and team leadership capability.
Experience preparing regulatory submittals, coordinating permitting, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, maintain project profitability and mentor junior engineers.
