Job Description

Project Manager (in office - Traverse City, MI) Thompson Surgical Instruments has an opportunity for a Project Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for facilitating the successful execution of the company's product development projects from concept through launch within the scope of research and development. This requires coordinating tasks related to commercializing surgical instruments with stakeholders across the company to align expectations, communicate progress, and ensure project success. Responsibilities:
Develop and manage detailed project schedules and plans for product development up to launch Anticipate bottlenecks before they occur and communicate to project stakeholders and managers Prioritize projects, shifting timelines & priorities as required Efficiently conduct regular meetings with engineering, sales, marketing, quality, and manufacturing departments to plan, track, and execute product development plans and ensure that all projects are completed on schedule Provide meeting summaries or regular updates to project stakeholders Seek feedback from individual employees on task timing considering simultaneous project resource needs Follow up with employees on outstanding tasks; help troubleshoot and adjust timelines if needed Motivate team members, resolve conflicts, and actively problem solve to remove obstacles to execution Continually update project status to reflect progress against plan and report to stakeholders and managers Utilize project management software and communication tools to efficiently execute May perform project management for in-depth Product Management department projects Assist the Product Management Team with Product Management tasks as available Execute the product development process of new projects during user needs and design input definition Execute project management of new projects through to commercialization with a design engineer as the technical lead Develop project plans and timeline for new programs and gain cross functional input for the success of the system Collaborate with OEM customers who bring product ideas to Thompson through the development process Research and organize competitor pricing, strategy, and products and regularly share with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management. May assist with product launch training for sales, and creation of internal clinical procedural training May attend clinical cases and labs as needed to manage product development project execution May collaborate with surgeons who bring product ideas, design inputs, and feedback to Thompson.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in: medical device engineering, project management, or sales Prior Medical Device experience preferred Prior demonstrated project management experience Strong ability to plan and manage time across multiple priorities Ability to understand project details but able to keep the "big picture" of projects and priorities in the forefront Demonstrated strength in time management and execution Organized with strong attention to detail Excellent multi-tasker, comfortable switching between projects Experience managing projects using Microsoft Project and any other work management tools Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and analytical skills Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills Able to maintain composure and professionalism as priorities shift or deliverables are delayed Able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision Experience developing devices under Design Controls, FDA, and ISO regulations.
