ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Project Manager for Power Generation at xAI, you will own the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale power generation projects that support xAI's rapidly expanding AI infrastructure. You will lead the development of power plants, substations, generation assets, and grid interconnection projects to ensure reliable, high-capacity power supply for our next-generation data centers. Working cross-functionally with engineering, construction, procurement, and energy teams, you will drive projects from concept through commissioning in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead full lifecycle project management for power generation initiatives, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines, renewables integration, and substation projects Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans Manage project risks, issues, and change orders while ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery Coordinate with utility companies, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders for permitting and grid interconnection Track project progress, KPIs, and financial performance with clear reporting to leadership Collaborate closely with engineering teams on technical specifications and design reviews Drive procurement strategy and vendor/contractor management Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of project management experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, or large industrial projects Proven track record delivering complex, multi-million dollar energy projects on schedule and within budget Strong working knowledge of power generation technologies (gas, diesel, renewables) and electrical infrastructure Experience with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Background in data center power systems or hyperscale energy projects Professional certifications (PMP, PE, or equivalent) Experience with utility-scale generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or high-voltage substations Familiarity with regulatory environments, permitting processes, and grid compliance Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
