In this vital role, you will oversee project financial activities, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of project costs and revenues. Your expertise will support project managers and executive leadership in making informed financial decisions, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and optimizing project profitability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our organization's growth by leveraging your strong accounting skills and technical proficiency in financial systems. Duties Manage project budgets by monitoring expenditures, forecasting costs, and performing variance analysis to ensure projects stay within financial targets. Maintain detailed project accounting records, including cost allocations, expense tracking, and revenue recognition aligned with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Reconcile project-related accounts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare comprehensive financial reports and summaries for project stakeholders, highlighting key insights on cash flow, cost management, and profitability metrics. Utilize ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems like SAP or similar software to input data accurately, generate reports, and support audit processes including SOX compliance. Conduct cost analysis and cost accounting reviews to identify areas for efficiency improvements and cost savings opportunities. Support month-end closing activities by performing account reconciliations, journal entries, and data collection for financial statement preparation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on forecasting efforts, budget development, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Assist in the interpretation of financial reports and provide insights into financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and cash flow analysis. Experience Proven experience in project accounting or finance within a utility or industrial environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as SAP, QuickBooks, Quicken or similar software platforms is essential. Demonstrated understanding of GAAP standards and SOX compliance requirements for internal controls and audit readiness. Experience with financial report writing, data analysis using spreadsheets (Excel), and business intelligence tools is advantageous. Background in public accounting or corporate finance roles that involve cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis is desirable. Familiarity with ERP systems integration for cost accounting analysis and general ledger reconciliation processes is a plus. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills to clearly present financial insights to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
