Job Description

Assistant Project Manager - MechanicalPosition OverviewA leading mechanical contractor is looking to bring on an Assistant Project Manager to support project delivery for mechanical systems on construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager, site supervision, engineers and subcontractors to ensure mechanical scopes are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role requires strong construction knowledge, mechanical systems understanding, and the ability to coordinate documentation and field activities across commercial, healthcare and K-12 projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Project Manager in planning, executing, and closing mechanical construction projects across healthcare, K-12 and commercial sectors.

Assist with schedule development and monitoring; track progress against milestones and alert the PM to variances.

Manage project documentation: prepare and process RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and maintain up-to-date drawing and specification control.

Perform regular site visits to verify installation quality, adherence to drawings/specs, and compliance with safety and quality programs.

Support commissioning activities, punchlist development and closeout documentation for mechanical systems.

Maintain strong communication with owners, design teams, inspectors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and schedule issues promptly.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience preferred; or relevant technical degree/certification.

Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical construction or related field working on HVAC, piping and plumbing systems (commercial, healthcare and/or K-12 projects preferred).Proven knowledge of mechanical systems, reading construction drawings, specifications and coordination drawings.

Familiarity with construction management tools and document control; experience with Procore and Bluebeam preferred.

Experience with subcontractor coordination, RFIs, submittals, change order processes and basic cost tracking.
