Job Description
Project Manager (Cemetery Operations & Maintenance) — Santa Fe National Cemetery F is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to oversee, coordinate, and ensure the timely, compliant, and respectful execution of cemetery services. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, quality assurance, contractor coordination (as applicable), safety oversight, and communication to ensure all work supports dignified operations, daily maintenance standards, and ceremony readiness. Key Responsibilities You will manage end-to-end project delivery for cemetery service lines, including interment-related support, grounds and infrastructure maintenance, cleanliness standards, seasonal readiness, and ceremony assistance.
Project Oversight:
Core Service Areas Interment and Disinterment Services Coordinate schedules and field readiness to support interments and disinterments. Ensure that required resources, sta ing, equipment, and site access are aligned with operations. Monitor service execution to maintain accuracy, timeliness, and respectful handling of remains and records. Confirm that work areas are secured, safe, and returned to proper operating condition immediately after service completion. Headstone Services Manage planning and logistics for headstone-related activities. Coordinate work sequencing with cemetery operations to minimize disruption during daily activities and ceremonies. Track quality requirements (alignment, placement standards, cleanliness, and site protection). Ensure documentation is maintained for completed headstone work and any corrective actions. Gravesite Maintenance Ensure gravesite maintenance work is planned and performed to meet established cemetery standards. Verify that contractor/sta work order completion aligns with service specifications and timelines. Conduct inspections to confirm that gravesites remain presentable, neat, and properly maintained. Turf & Grasses Maintenance Oversee turf mowing, trimming, edging, and related maintenance activities. Coordinate seasonal adjustments to irrigation and mowing schedules based on weather and site conditions. Confirm safe equipment operation and proper disposal of clippings/debris. Additional Project Management Duties Develop and maintain master schedules for service lines, balancing daily operational needs with long-term maintenance plans. Maintain work order tracking, progress updates, and completion documentation. Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with cemetery standards. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (operations, grounds, safety, administration) and external service providers when applicable. Enforce safety practices, including PPE use, equipment safety, tra ic/pedestrian control, and hazard mitigation. Manage resources (labor, equipment, materials) to reduce downtime and ensure continuous service readiness. Address issues quickly (weather impacts, schedule changes, corrective actions, quality concerns). Produce clear reports for completed work, upcoming priorities, and any risks or mitigation needs. Qualifications (Preferred) Experience managing maintenance operations, construction services, or facility/grounds services in a high standards environment. Strong scheduling, coordination, and inspection/quality assurance skills. Working knowledge of safety planning and field operations (including seasonal snow/ice readiness). Ability to communicate professionally, calmly, and respectfully with sta , visitors, and partners. Proficiency with work order management, documentation, and reporting.
