26-00168 The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnered with an established and growing construction company in Richland County is seeking a Project Manager- Structural Steel Fabrication with a pay range of $85K-$105K + Bonus based on skill set & experience. Position Overview:
The Project Manager - Structural Steel Fabrication- leads complex steel projects from award through closeout. This role oversees detailing, fabrication, delivery, and erection coordination while managing schedule, cost, quality, and client relationships. Ideal for someone with strong experience in structural steel fabrication, shop drawings, and project financials who can manage high-visibility projects and work directly with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage structural steel fabrication projects from contract award to completion Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work Develop project plans including detailing, procurement, fabrication, and erection sequencing Maintain project schedules, budgets, and profitability Track job costs, labor productivity, materials, and cash flow Lead change order management, including pricing, negotiation, and documentation Serve as primary contact for owners, GCs, and design teams Oversee shop drawings, detailing coordination, and approvals Align fabrication schedules with field erection and site constraints Prepare billings, project reports, and cost forecasts Ensure compliance with safety standards and
AISC/AWS
quality requirements Support and mentor other Project Managers with the organization. Coordinate projects across multiple states with limited travel as needed.
Qualifications:
5+ years of structural steel fabrication project management experience Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, detailing, and erection processes Experience managing large or complex steel projects Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Experience with contracts, change orders, and project cost tracking Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams) Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred (Not Required): Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Experience with Tekla, SDS/2, Bluebeam, Vista, or similar systems Knowledge of ERP or fabrication tracking systems OSHA certification Multi-state or remote project experience What's In It for
