Project Manager Job Description This Project Manager role supports the Senior Project Manager throughout the design, pre-construction, and construction phases of commercial and mechanical/HVAC projects. You will help manage project scope, schedules, budgets, contracts, and the bid process while coordinating closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers. The position requires someone who can work independently with minimal oversight, contribute to accurate project forecasting, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Assist the Senior Project Manager and broader Project Management team in managing and estimating construction and HVAC equipment projects across the design, pre-construction, and construction phases. Organize and control project elements to complete engineering and construction projects efficiently and in alignment with project objectives. Review construction and engineering drawings for completeness and correctness, identifying and resolving discrepancies before and during project execution. Assemble all miscellaneous details and documentation necessary to prepare accurate job bid proposals, including quantities, specifications, and supporting information. Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, interacting with them to secure pricing, technical information, and other details required for competitive and accurate job bids. Support the Project Manager in collecting and organizing data needed to complete the monthly Work in Progress (WIP) report, ensuring accurate financial tracking and forecasting. Assist in projecting and monitoring job budgets, tracking costs, and ensuring tasks are completed within planned timelines and financial targets. Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities among internal teams and subcontractors, and surfacing issues that may impact timelines so they can be resolved promptly. Interface with subcontractors as needed to ensure adherence to project schedules, scope, and quality requirements. Control project costs by recommending appropriate expenditures, administering contractor contracts, and monitoring budget performance throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions to keep projects on track. Travel to job sites when necessary to review construction progress, verify compliance with plans and specifications, and provide solutions to field challenges. Assist in developing and maintaining project timelines, including identifying critical path activities and coordinating resources to meet milestones. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing established procedures, rules, and regulations on job sites and within the office. Update and maintain the project database and construction management systems to ensure accurate, current project documentation and records. Support the Project Manager in responding to customer inquiries, providing timely and professional communication to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. Contribute to overall team success by assisting with related tasks and responsibilities as needed to achieve project and organizational goals. Take responsibility for project financials, administration, implementation, and overall customer satisfaction for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations. Manage the implementation and ongoing management of HVAC equipment projects, including accountability for project scope, schedule, and deliverables. Manage a portfolio of projects that may include both smaller jobs and larger, multi-building or complex construction projects, prioritizing resources effectively. Manage project scope, cost, and schedule by reviewing contract documents, conducting internal coordination meetings, setting clear customer expectations, and identifying risks with associated mitigation plans. Compare estimated equipment ship dates with contractor project schedules and ensure compliance with internal equipment ordering processes and timelines. Maintain the accuracy of forecasted cost at completion by monitoring project budgets, tracking changes, and controlling expenses on assigned projects. Use project management and construction scheduling software to build, update, and monitor project schedules and to coordinate with stakeholders. Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other construction documents, ensuring they are prepared, submitted, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. Support document control and project coordination activities, including managing blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation required for project execution. Essential Skills Demonstrated project management experience in construction, with involvement in managing scope, schedule, budget, and contracts. Experience in commercial construction and mechanical construction, including HVAC projects. Hands-on experience with construction project scheduling and project management software. Ability to read, review, and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and engineering documents for correctness and completeness. Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction document control processes. Experience in mechanical, electrical, or construction-related project engineering and estimation. Strong customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships, respond to inquiries, and manage customer expectations. Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying issues and developing mitigation plans. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while also collaborating effectively as part of a project team. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks within a high-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail. Proficiency in coordinating and monitoring project budgets, forecasting cost at completion, and supporting Work in Progress (WIP) reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Science. Formal education or training in construction management or engineering disciplines. Experience with mechanical engineering concepts as they relate to HVAC and mechanical construction projects. Exposure to commercial data center construction or other complex, multi-building projects. Experience working within large corporate environments, including interaction with executive-level stakeholders. Familiarity with internal equipment ordering processes and coordinating equipment deliveries with project schedules. Experience maintaining project databases and using construction management systems for documentation and reporting. Ability to travel to project sites as needed to support field activities and resolve on-site challenges. Work Environment This role operates primarily in an office environment with regular use of construction management software, project scheduling tools, and digital documentation systems. Approximately 80% of the time is spent in the office, with about 20% dedicated to on-site visits at active construction projects. On-site work involves collaboration with field personnel, subcontractors, and other stakeholders in a dynamic construction setting. The position offers exposure to state-of-the-art data centers and complex mechanical and HVAC installations, as well as regular interaction with C suite-level stakeholders. The work pace is high, with tight deadlines and multiple concurrent projects, requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Standard office attire is typically appropriate for the office environment, while appropriate safety and field-appropriate attire is expected during site visits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muskogee, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $48.08/hr.
