Job Description

Building Enclosure Project Manager Forensic Building Consultants | Portland Metro At Forensic Building Consultants, we give experienced professionals the independence to manage their work without unnecessary oversight. That independence comes with clear expectations: communicate well, meet commitments, support the team, and take excellent care of our clients. We also offer a flexible workspace, with opportunities to work from home and in the office, based on project responsibilities, meetings, and team needs. About Forensic Forensic Building Consultants (FBC) is a building science, forensic investigation, and construction consulting firm, serving clients since 2003. We investigate building failures, design rehabilitation solutions, and guide owners through complex construction projects. Our services include building enclosure consulting, rehabilitation design, construction management, owner's representation, and Supplemental Quality Assurance (SQA). Our projects include condominiums, commercial buildings, universities, hospitals, and public facilities throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves.
Our motto is simple:
Check your ego at the door. The Role We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead building enclosure consulting and rehabilitation projects from investigation through design, construction, and closeout. You bring strong project management and construction fundamentals, and we will provide the education, mentorship, and technical support needed to develop your building enclosure expertise. You will serve as a trusted client representative, coordinating owners, designers, contractors, consultants, and our internal technical team. This is a consulting and owner-advocacy role, not a traditional general-contractor position. What You'll Do
  • Manage multiple projects from kickoff through closeout
  • Serve as a primary contact and trusted advisor for clients
  • Coordinate owners, contractors, consultants, and internal staff
  • Manage scopes, schedules, budgets, meetings, and deliverables
  • Support investigations, rehabilitation design, bidding, and construction administration
  • Provide construction management, owner's representation, and SQA services
  • Identify problems early and help develop practical solutions
  • Maintain clear field and project records using our AI-assisted field documentation and reporting software and other digital tools Our investigations may involve thermal imaging, drone inspections, electronic leak detection, moisture diagnostics, and exploratory testing. What We're Looking For
  • Project management experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong organization, communication, and client-service skills
  • Sound judgment, accountability, and consistent follow-through
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Technical curiosity and an interest in how buildings perform
  • A practical, collaborative, low-ego approach to solving problems Building enclosure, rehabilitation, consulting, owner's representation, or construction-administration experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate. What We Offer
  • Professional independence with a supportive team behind you
  • Flexible work-from-home and office options
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Paid medical benefits, 401(k), vacation, and PTO
  • Building science education and mentorship
  • Interesting and technically challenging projects
  • Opportunities for greater project, client, and leadership responsibility
  • Long-term growth with a stable and respected firm Interested?
If you are an organized and capable Project Manager who enjoys solving difficult construction problems, values professional independence, and wants to grow with a collaborative consulting firm, we would like to hear from you. Please forward resume/cv to matt@forensicbuilding.com
