Job Description:
The Global Alliance for Infant and Maternal Health Research (Global AIM) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is committed to advancing the survival, health, and well-being of mothers and infants globally through rigorous research, experiential education, and advocacy. We are currently conducting research to improve health outcomes of mothers and infants in low-resource settings, specifically targeting the prevention and management of small vulnerable newborns and optimizing child neurodevelopment. More information about the current research program is located the Global AIM website . The Project Director will play a central leadership role in building and advancing the Brown-wide, interdisciplinary Global AIM program, which spans clinical research, engineering, and public health. This role will focus on strategic growth, including fundraising, grant development, partnership building, and the design and implementation of seminars and cross-disciplinary programming. The Project Director will provide senior operational oversight of Dr. Lee's research program, managing personnel, trainees, and laboratory operations. The portfolio includes a diverse set of initiatives, including international clinical trials, multi-country epidemiologic cohort studies, and the development of innovative maternal and child health solutions. The Lee laboratory currently leads multiple funded projects in Ethiopia and Bangladesh, supported by dedicated project managers, postdoctoral fellows, and trainees. The Project Director will ensure efficient coordination across teams, maintaining high-quality execution, adherence to timelines, and delivery of key milestones. This role will also oversee budgeting and financial management, lead fundraising initiatives, and serve as a key driver of the strategic vision and expansion of Global AIM across departments, schools, and disciplines at Brown. This is a fixed term with a current end date of June 30, 2029, which may be extended based upon the availability of funding. Job Qualifications Education and Experience Master's degree of Public Health or other master's degree in a relevant area such as global health, demography, or epidemiology PhD Preferred Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant, global health project/program management experience Successful track record of securing new grants or awards Experience successfully managing large teams and multiple projects required; in academia a plus Strong field experience managing and conducting research in global health and/or health systems Knowledge and experience in study design and statistical methods is advantageous And/or equivalent of education and experience Job Competencies Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to conduct collaborative research and coordinate multiple partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Proficiency with Google Drive, citation management software, and data management/analysis software (STATA, SAS...etc.) a plus. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to expertly carry out communications, relationship-building with study staff, governmental, non-profit, research, academic, and donor organizations, in order to attain project goals and facilitate productive collaboration. Strong management and leadership skills, with demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team with domestic and international collaborators, stakeholders, and research staff. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time, multi-task and deliver upon tasks Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, goal- and detail-oriented work style, and meticulous and consistent follow-through on projects.
