JOB TITLE

Engineering Supervisor
GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for effective liaison communication between assigned customer(s) and FIAMM. Ensures rapid response to customer inquiries and actively participates in vehicle programs so as to lower costs and increase product quality. Directs, coordinates and exercises discretion for planning, organization, control, integration ,and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates and/or co-workers.
JOB DUTIES
  • Assist in design and placement of FIAMM products in future vehicles.
  • Act as liaison between FIAMM and customer to solve or prevent problems.
  • Project a positive and pro-active image to the customer.
  • Visit customer plant(s) to ensure product/application integrity.
  • Analyze customer warranty indicators and problems and implement corrective actions to improve the customer satisfaction on the field.
  • Resolve any engineering issues at the customer plant and assist them with any quality issue.
  • Keep the project books and documentation in order and follows customer requirements, FIAMM internal procedure on APQP, project management and various TS requirements including PPAP submission.
  • Coordinate the necessary activities of the new projects between the different plants within the FIAMM group.
  • Assist customer engineering with any test or design studies.
  • Report on the customer account(s) to manager and relevant departments.
  • Attend required management and customer meetings to discuss plans, results, problems, and special activities.
  • Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems using 8D methodology.
  • Review product design for compliance using engineering principles, company standards, and related specifications.
  • Support manufacturing department on problem solving activities.
  • Evaluate design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Control expenditures within limitations of project budget and prepare interim and completion project reports.
  • Read and use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), 2D and 3D.
  • Use Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA, etc.) methods.
  • Cooridnate the build, assemble and test prototype and preproduction builds.
  • Investigate opportunities for new business.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Adhere to the Environmental, Health & Safety policies to conserve energy and promote recycling.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • Concentrated mental and visual attention required to perform complex work to very close limits of high accuracy and quality for sustained periods of time. Able to distinguish primary colors.
  • Requires the use of judgment to plan, analyze, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitation of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
  • Ability to use precision instruments.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, manual, or schedule form.
  • Flexible to travel for short durations of time with minimal notice as well as being eligible to travel internationally as required.
  • May be required to utilize safety equipment identified for specific tasks.
  • Common intelligence, courtesy, and a cooperative spirit needed to respond to internal and external department requests, resolve conflict, interact, negotiate and clearly present information.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electronic engineering desired, or two or more years work experience in project management in the automotive industry.
  • Basic leadership and supervisory skills training or supervisory experience.
  • Two or more years of job related project management and automotive experience or training preferred.
  • Preferred specific training: System of assigned customer, Advanced Product Quality Planning and
ISO 14001 & TS 16949
procedures and instructions, Microsoft office programs
  • Preferred specific training: Ability to read blue prints, create APWP timing plans with the use of MS Project software.
Desirable knowledge of basic horns, AVAS or antennas.
