Power Distribution Project Manager Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Power Distribution Project Manager to support electric utility engineering and design programs in the Richmond, Virginia area. This role involves serving as both a project leader and a technical resource, managing project execution and guiding junior team members through distribution design projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power distribution design principles and utility engineering practices. Responsibilities Oversee project schedules, resource planning, client communication, quality control, and overall delivery performance. Ensure projects meet utility standards and customer expectations. Review project scopes and ensure designs align with utility standards and construction requirements. Act as a technical resource for project teams and clients. Guide junior designers and engineers through distribution design projects. Review deliverables for quality and constructability. Manage multiple projects simultaneously from initiation through closeout. Coordinate schedules, deliverables, resources, budgets, and client expectations. Identify project risks and drive issue resolution. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience supporting electric utility projects. Strong background in power distribution design. Experience leading utility design projects or teams. Strong understanding of utility construction practices. Experience managing schedules, deliverables, and client expectations. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Equivalent utility industry experience will be strongly considered. Experience with AutoCAD and Automated Utility Design. Ability to mentor junior designers and engineers. Work Environment The role is based in the Richmond, VA area, supporting Dominion Energy programs within a fast-paced utility consulting environment. It involves a mix of client interaction, project management, and technical leadership responsibilities. The work environment is primarily office-based with a hybrid model and occasional field exposure as needed. This is a highly visible role supporting critical utility infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with project leads, engineers, designers, and utility stakeholders.
