Job Description

The Real Estate Development Coordinator & In-House Planner supports the planning, design, permitting, and execution of commercial and/or retail development projects from site selection through construction completion. This role coordinates closely with internal teams, municipalities, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and compliant with all zoning and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational and project coordination skills, along with hands-on experience using CAD/Autodesk software and Microsoft Office products to support planning, site development, and project management activities. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment & Planning Coordination Coordinate real estate development projects through planning, entitlement, permitting, and construction phases. Assist with site planning, feasibility studies, zoning reviews, and due diligence investigations. Prepare and maintain project schedules, development timelines, and status reports. Coordinate submissions to municipalities and regulatory agencies for approvals and permits. Track project milestones, deadlines, inspections, and consultant deliverables. Support lease plan development and retail site layout coordination. Communicate with landlords, contractors, architects, engineers, and government agencies throughout project execution. Design & Technical Support Create, review, and revise site plans, floor plans, and development drawings using CAD and Autodesk software. Maintain and organize drawing files, construction documents, and planning records. Assist with store layout planning, utility coordination, and space planning. Review construction drawings for accuracy and compliance with project standards. Coordinate redline revisions and drawing updates between consultants and internal stakeholders. Administrative & Project Management Prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation using Microsoft Office Suite. Maintain budgets, invoices, and project tracking spreadsheets. Support procurement and vendor coordination activities. Organize meetings, agendas, and project communication logs. Ensure proper documentation and filing of permits, approvals, and construction records. QualificationsEducation & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, or related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in real estate development, planning, construction coordination, or related field. Experience working with commercial, retail, or mixed-use development projects preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk software products required. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, site plans, and architectural documents. Familiarity with zoning regulations, permitting processes, and municipal approvals. Knowledge of project scheduling and coordination practices. Additional Skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in retail or commercial development environments. Knowledge of GIS, SketchUp, Bluebeam, or related planning/design software. Understanding of construction administration and permitting processes. Familiarity with ADA compliance and building code requirements. Work Environment Fully Remote Occasional travel to project locations and municipal meetings may be required. Ability to review construction sites and development properties as needed. $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
