Position Overview The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects from initiation through closeout. Operating in a dynamic and technical environment, this role manages all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure outcomes align with scope, budget, and timeline, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and senior leadership, the Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in supporting operationalexcellence, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to continuous improvement and business development efforts. Responsibilities Maintain seamless communication with clients, owners, contractors, and stakeholders regarding the opening and closing of projects Lead the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, from pre-construction/estimation through final closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Attend preconstruction and on-site meetings with clients and municipalities to ensure compliance Obtain documents from clients to facilitate the permit application process Develop and implement standardized processes for processing permits and plan reviews Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as the primary liaison between the company, client, and each municipality Prepare and submit applications to various agencies/boards having jurisdiction over required permits and/or approvals Perform or supervise field inspections or testing when needed. Review plans issued out of the department for correct revision dates and review start packages for accuracy Submit, distribute, and file paperwork and enter data for various permits, such as building, standard plans, plan changes, and closeout documents Monitor project progress and performance, tracking milestones, deliverables, and financials to identify variances and implement corrective actions as needed. Maintain all company files relating to permit applications, approvals, licenses, issued permits, and closeout documents Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, mentoring junior staff and promoting best practices in project execution and team collaboration. Foster a strong working relationship with municipalities to ensure timely permit processing. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or PMP certification preferred. 7+ years of progressive project management experience, preferably within engineering, environmental, or construction industries. Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex, and high-impact projects in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment. Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar, and Microsoft Office Suite. In-depth knowledge of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience managing project financials, contracts, and vendor relationships. Ability to travel to job sites and regional offices as needed. Self-directed, highly organized, and capable of managing competing priorities in a matrixed or decentralized organization. Preferred Qualifications A licensed Building Official with the State of Florida (CBO) or A licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or A licensed Registered Architect (AIA) Travel Requirements This position requires moderate travel, approximately up to 50% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work Physical Demands & Work Environment This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring flexibility to work effectively from both a professional office and field work site setting.
On-Site Office Requirements:
Work is performed at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment in a climate-controlled office environment. Regular in-person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders is required. Physical demands may include sitting for long durations, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of materials up to 15 pounds.
Field Environment:
Work at outdoor sites including wetlands, forests, grasslands, construction zones, and undeveloped land. Travel on foot across uneven, rugged, or obstructed terrain, sometimes in areas inaccessible by vehicle. Exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, rain, or sun. Possible presence of insects, animals, or natural and man-made hazards in field environments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry between 35-75 lbs. of equipment or samples over distances up to 75 feet. Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate lab and field equipment for extended periods. Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, and balance as needed during both lab and fieldwork. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats in varied environments, often while wearing PPE.
