To learn more, please visit www.calstrs.com The California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), Project Management Program (PMP) Division is seeking to hire a student assistant, under the close supervision and direction of the PMP Director. In a learning capacity, the student assistant will perform a variety of the less complex tasks in connection with the Project Support Office unit and may support other PMP teams as necessary. We are a diverse team and work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges every day. The Student Assistant will be working with different business areas and our internal Technology Services partners and will provide excellent customer service. This position is located at CalSTRS Headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Hour's dependent on student's school schedule. The final work schedule will be determined by the Supervisor. Compensation $20.60 per hour. Minimum Qualifications Strong customer service skills in a professional office setting. Ability to organize and maintain accurate records and pay strict attention to detail. Ability to multitask and manage time wisely. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) through email, telephone, instant messaging, web conferencing, and in-person. Have good and consistent attendance. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong research and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous work experience using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience creating or editing professional slide decks using Microsoft PowerPoint, including applying branding and accessibility standards. Familiarity with project management concepts, SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and governance frameworks. Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Duties and Responsibilities Organize and maintain structured archives of project materials within Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, including managing channels, sites, file structures, and document repositories. Update team documents, job aids, reference guides, folders, and databases using Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and related tools. Draft, edit, and revise procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), governance documents, and communication materials to support project clarity and consistency. Translate technical project information into clear visuals, summaries, talking points, and decision-ready materials for PMP leadership. Track project assessment tasks, action items, meeting follow-ups, and intake requests using spreadsheets or project management tools such as Clarity, MS Project, or Planner. Assist PMP staff with developing and refining new processes, applying technology solutions to improve efficiency, and providing basic knowledge-transfer or training support. Support PMP meetings by preparing agendas, taking notes, coordinating logistics, and tracking action items to completion. Contribute to maintaining a professional project operations environment by supporting daily administrative, project, and communication needs. Provide administrative support to PMP management and assist other PMP teams temporarily for special assignments as needed. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hybrid environment. Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.
