This role will lead specialized railroad and industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with responsibility for safety, financial performance, schedule, field execution, quality, and customer relationships. We're looking for someone who can step into this environment with a strong foundation from day one. The ideal candidate brings either hands-on mechanical/industrial construction knowledge paired with strong project management experience, or direct railroad/rail infrastructure experience with the ability to lead projects while learning Kinley's internal systems and processes. This is not a traditional commercial construction PM role. Our work requires an understanding of complex, safety-sensitive infrastructure and the ability to coordinate field operations, customers, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and project controls in active railroad environments. What You'll Do Manage railroad construction projects from planning and preconstruction through execution, turnover, and closeout Own project budgets, forecasts, schedules, cost-to-complete projections, and overall financial performance Lead project planning, procurement, subcontractor coordination, material and equipment planning, and field execution Partner closely with Superintendents and field leadership to coordinate manpower, equipment, sequencing, and daily project needs Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, contracts, purchase orders, and subcontractor scopes Maintain project schedules, identify potential delays or constraints, and develop solutions to keep work moving Understand project drawings, specifications, scopes, and technical requirements and translate them into executable field plans Coordinate with railroad customers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams Monitor project cost, productivity, risk, quality, and safety throughout execution Lead customer and project meetings and provide clear communication regarding schedule, financials, changes, and project status Support estimating, constructability reviews, project handoffs, and scope development as needed Build strong customer relationships and represent Kinley professionally in the field and with our railroad partners What We're Looking For We are particularly interested in candidates who bring one or both of the following backgrounds: Mechanical /

Industrial Construction:

Strong understanding of mechanical construction combined with demonstrated project management experience. Experience with piping systems, fueling infrastructure, pumps, equipment, underground utilities, electrical/I&E, concrete, or other industrial systems is highly valued. Railroad /

Rail Infrastructure:

Meaningful experience working in the railroad construction industry or directly supporting major rail owners/operators, with an understanding of the unique safety, coordination, access, scheduling, and operational requirements of working in active railroad environments.

Additional qualifications include:

Approximately 5+ years of progressively responsible construction project management experience, with greater project complexity and leadership expected at the Senior PM level Proven ownership of project financials, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, change management, and field execution Experience managing field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and multiple project stakeholders Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work Ability to identify risk early, solve problems quickly, and keep projects moving Experience in railroad, fueling, industrial mechanical, heavy civil, pipeline, underground utility, transportation, or similar infrastructure construction Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; relevant industry and field experience may be considered in lieu of a degree The Background That Will Stand Out We're looking for someone who already understands the work or the industry. Experience with rail yards and terminals, locomotive fueling systems, industrial piping and mechanical systems, fuel storage and distribution, underground utilities, pumps and equipment, civil/site infrastructure, electrical/I&E, or construction within active railroad facilities will stand out. Direct experience working with Class I railroads, regional railroads, transit authorities, railroad contractors, or industrial contractors supporting rail operations is highly desirable.

Pay:

$135,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
