Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Senior Project Manager with a proven background in mission-critical data center construction to lead the successful delivery of large-scale hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working for a General Contractor (GC), managing complex construction programs from preconstruction through commissioning and final turnover. This role requires a strategic leader who can oversee project teams, manage client relationships, drive financial performance, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate must be willing to travel or relocate to project sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
Lead all phases of data center construction projects, including preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. Provide overall project leadership and direction to project managers, project engineers, superintendents, and support staff. Establish project execution strategies and ensure alignment with client objectives and company goals. Drive accountability across all project stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
Client Relationship Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, developers, design teams, and key stakeholders. Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Lead executive-level meetings, project reviews, and progress updates. Ensure client expectations are met or exceeded while maintaining profitability and contractual compliance.
Financial Management:
Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and overall financial performance. Oversee cost control efforts and ensure accurate project reporting. Review and approve subcontractor contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and payment applications. Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies. Maintain responsibility for project profitability and margin performance.
Schedule Management:
Oversee development and execution of master project schedules. Monitor critical path activities and project milestones. Coordinate with field leadership and trade partners to ensure schedule commitments are achieved. Implement recovery plans when project delays occur.
Contract Administration & Risk Management:
Manage contract compliance and administration activities. Review and negotiate owner contracts, subcontract agreements, and change orders. Identify project risks and implement proactive mitigation measures. Ensure project documentation and reporting meet company and client standards.
Mission-Critical Construction Oversight:
Lead construction efforts involving critical infrastructure systems, including: Electrical distribution systems Medium
  • and low-voltage systems UPS systems Generator systems Switchgear and paralleling systems Chilled water and cooling infrastructure
CRAH/CRAC
units Building Management Systems (BMS) Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) Fire protection systems Security and access control systems Collaborate with commissioning teams to support startup, functional testing, and integrated systems testing (IST).
Team Development & Leadership:
Mentor and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and support personnel. Foster a collaborative, high-performance project culture. Conduct performance evaluations and support career development initiatives. Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Safety & Quality:
Champion a culture of safety throughout all project activities. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements. Support quality assurance and quality control programs. Ensure project delivery meets contractual quality standards and commissioning requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. 10+ years of construction project management experience. 5+ years of direct data center construction experience working for a General Contractor. Proven success managing large-scale mission-critical construction projects. Experience managing projects exceeding $100M in value. Strong knowledge of MEP systems and critical infrastructure. Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and risk. Proficiency with Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and related construction management software. Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to travel extensively and work at project sites nationwide.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience delivering hyperscale data center projects for clients such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta, Oracle, or similar organizations. Design-Build project delivery experience. PMP certification or equivalent project management credential. LEED accreditation or sustainability-related certifications. OSHA 30 certification. Experience managing multiple concurrent data center projects or campus developments.

Travel Requirements:
Must be willing to travel and relocate to project sites across the United States as needed. Travel commitment may exceed 75-100% depending on project assignments. Extended stays at project locations may be required. Flexibility to support critical project milestones, commissioning events, and client meetings outside normal business hours.
Work Environment:
Combination of construction site, project office, and client-facing environments. Frequent site visits, field walks, and coordination meetings. Ability to safely navigate active construction sites and wear required PPE. Fast-paced environment supporting large-scale mission-critical construction projects.
INDWR Pay:
$170,000.00
