TAPCO:
The Planning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production planning functions to ensure that production departments' meet customer delivery dates. This position will evaluate and analyze data from the ERP system and available inventory quantities to improve processes and forecast production. This position resolves production schedule problems or material shortages and recommends procedures to enhance processes. This position supervises the Schedulers and reports to the Director of Operations. Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversees the scheduling of customer orders into production Manages and develops the Scheduling staff Tracks and manages daily manufacturing workload against available manufacturing hours, and provides regular reporting on manufacturing status Confers with Sales staff and management to communicate planned production and delivery dates. Provides reports of available production capacity and manufacturing activities metrics. Evaluates and analyzes long term capacity and demand data for production areas Implements and improves business processes as they relate to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and maintains information in ERP to report materials requirement planning (MRP) needs, shortage reports and other ERP reports that track production requirements and support activities. Determines material need dates for purchasing Facilitates ongoing communication between purchasing, production and inventory control Works closely with plant production control to ensure schedule accuracy Works closely with program managers and plant production control to ensure the right activities are being worked at the right times Reports weekly/monthly on production schedule status, commercial raw material inventory levels, pending non-confirming materials, and other key department indicators. Assists in determining optimum inventory levels to support the manufacturing plan and inventory goals and objectives Promotes and implements new improvement plans Follows all company safety rules and 5S/Lean Manufacturing procedures Required Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge/Skill/Ability Excellent attention to detail Knowledge of MS Word and Excel Ability to multi task in a busy, deadline oriented environment Ability to assess needs and solve complex problems Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to perform basic math on a daily basis (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide) Must be able to take initiative Dependable Adaptable Use and navigate an ERP system Work independently and in a team environment Required Experience Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or operations management and/or commensurate on the job experience 6 years' experience in productions control or materials management in fast-paced manufacturing environment Prior project management experience Prior experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Advanced experience using Microsoft office and ERP software; NAV (Navision) ERP System a plus Strong data analysis and report generating experience
