POSITION PURPOSE
The SVDP of Bristol's Director of Programs is responsible for the oversight of the management of the SVDP homeless shelter, Resource Center, Outreach and Cold Weather Overflow. Flexibility with work schedule is required. Supervising direct reports is also required to ensure smooth operations. Engaging in in-house and other network and community meetings as needed to share ideas and continue learning. The SVDP Director of Programs is key to a team approach and commitment to ending homelessness in our community, working from a Housing First, Harm Reduction, Person Centered approach to ensure residents are supported to the greatest extent possible. The supervision of staff is crucial to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Higher in related field. Minimum five years Homelessness Services and Housing Placement experience preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Sound judgment, able to remain calm under pressure. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Teambuilding skills; development and maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships. Strong oral communications, presentation skills, writing ability. Fluent (read/write/speak) in English language. Problem solving and critical thinking skills. Interpersonal skills - displays a high level of tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. Ability to work Monday - Friday Flex Schedule including occasional weekends and evenings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Successful supervision of the Shelter Manager to ensure all staff of the emergency shelter are working toward goals daily. Effective supervision of the Resource Center Manager to ensure each walk-in client receives the individual support needed. Ensure SVDP's Mission is respected by all staff, volunteers and guests. Manages Cold Weather Overflow Program which includes, hiring, planning, actual shift coverage, attends all necessary meetings including CAN and CTBos, trainings and community events. Supervises Street Outreach Team to ensure field work is performed and support is provided to each Team Member. Train and provide annual performance evaluations of each staff within the team. Meets at least weekly with the Emergency Shelter Manager, Resource Center Manager and Outreach Team to discuss plans, open cases and to provide guidance as needed. Maintains effective communication with the Executive Director daily. Demonstrates high level of integrity and accountability in all business matters related to the operations of SVDP. Reviews and advises, all incident and accident reports to ensure adherence to policy and procedures of the Mission. Prepare all Department of Housing (DOH) Department of Public Health and CT Foodshare audits Perform other duties as requested.
