Program Overview:
Hope Manor Joliet is a supportive housing program designed to serve Veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of housing instability, with a focus on Veterans with families, including female Veterans and those with children. This campus-style community provides a continuum of housing and supportive services that help Veterans achieve long-term stability, independence, and improved quality of life. The program goes beyond housing by promoting self-sufficiency, skill-building, and strong community connections.
We provide:
Fully furnished housing units with equipped kitchens, spacious layouts, and access to high-speed internet and cable A safe, campus-style living environment with community spaces including resource centers, a library, and a playground for families Individualized case management and counseling services to support long-term stability Employment services to help Veterans gain and maintain meaningful employment Parent training and family support services to strengthen household stability Youth enrichment programs to support the development and well-being of children Peer support services to foster connection and shared experiences among residents Community programming and events that encourage engagement and support networks Our goal is to provide safe, stable housing while equipping Veterans and their families with the tools, resources, and support needed to build self-sufficiency, strengthen their futures, and successfully reintegrate into the community.
Position Summary:
The assistant property manager is responsible for assisting the property manager in managing all on-site operations and achieving property financial and operational objectives as defined by the property owner, the management company and management team. This position is non-exempt and reports to the Property Manager.
Work Environment & Schedule:
Full-time, in-office position averaging 40 hours per week. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Physical demands include sedentary work, computer use, and frequent communication with clients, colleagues, and partners involved in client support.
What You'll Do:
Support the Property Manager in overseeing daily property operations to meet financial, occupancy, and operational goals. Manage leasing activities including responding to inquiries, scheduling tours, showing apartments, processing applications, and lease documentation. Maintain accurate resident files and ensure all prospect, leasing, renewal, and occupancy data are entered into the property management system. Assist with rent collections, payment processing, daily deposits, and posting revenue in accordance with company policies. Prepare and distribute resident notices including late payments and eviction documentation as needed. Coordinate unit turnovers and work with maintenance staff to ensure apartments are ready for scheduled move-ins. Answer and respond to telephone inquiries Respond to resident inquiries, record maintenance requests, and ensure timely follow-up on service issues. Support resident retention efforts including lease renewals, resident communications, and community events. Assist with property inspections and ensure units, common areas, and grounds meet property standards. Ensure compliance with all housing, safety, and landlord-tenant regulations and company policies. Provide administrative support including reports, audits, program documentation, and resident record management. Collaborate with property staff and leadership to maintain a positive, well-managed residential community. Exhibit cultural competence while serving clients of diverse backgrounds and commit to expanding knowledge and understanding of different communities and people groups.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent 2+ years of property management experience, including experience supporting leasing and property operations Proven ability to manage leasing activities, maintain property records, and interpret basic financial and operational reports Proficiency with property management software systems Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills Ability to perform business math functions related to rent, deposits, and financial reporting Excellent organizational, customer service, and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse staff, residents, vendors, and community partners
Preferred:
Knowledge of housing codes, safety requirements, and landlord-tenant regulations Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS)
