REAL Community Covenant Church - Building and Property Manager Position Summary The Building & Property Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance/ repairs for the entire building, property care for outside spaces, in addition to, cleaning spaces used by the church and community partners. This position (up to 32 hours a week), requires general understanding of building repairs, organizational and communication skills, experience in cleaning spaces and a proactive approach to facility care. Furthermore, the position includes working at height (ladders and roof access) and performing physically active maintenance tasks. This role would be best suited for someone who is dependable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and hospitable environment for all who enter the building and property. Key Responsibilities 1.
Maintenance:
- Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance
- Perform monthly checks on fire extinguishers
- Serve as point of contact for maintenance contractors
- Develop a working knowledge of the building/preschool
- Ensure RING cameras are functional and batteries are charged
- Access the flat roof for gutter clearing and basic upkeep 2.
Repairs:
- Make or oversee repairs
- Respond in a timely manner to work orders
- Conduct weekly walkthroughs of the building/preschool
- Initiate vendor contracts and serve as liaison for building needs
- Address urgent building needs or emergencies 3.
Communication:
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Regularly check-in with staff and community partners
- Communicate with finance team for approval for repairs/improvements as needed
- Coordinate work days for volunteers in partnership with staff
- Understand and help maintain state preschool building standards (in collaboration with Preschool Director)
- Provide occasional updates with Leadership Team 4.
Equipment & Supply Management:
- Develop and maintain an organized system for storing equipment and supplies
- Order supplies/equipment in coordination with Administrative Assistant
- Have a willingness to learn new equipment and be a good steward of resources 5.
Property Management:
- Conduct regular property walkthroughs to assess needs and do necessary repairs/maintenance
- Maintain landscaping and grounds (not including mowing lawn and weedwhacking)
- Empty outdoor trash cans
- Monitor Bowman Stone Park for upkeep and maintenance
- Shovel snow and salt sidewalks when needed 6.
Weekly Cleanings (usually 15 hours per week): Perform routine cleaning of worship spaces, lobbies, classrooms/nurseries used on Sunday, bathrooms, hallways, kitchens, offices, and common areas Prepare spaces before and clean up after services, meetings, and special events Monitor cleaning supplies and notify the church administrative assistant when restocking is needed Maintain cleaning equipment and wash mop heads, rags, and towels/cloths when needed Report schedule changes, absences, or facility concerns to the administrative assistant or lead pastor Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed 7. Assigned Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights to access roof and clean roof drains and gutters Need to be able to lift up to 50lbs Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for long periods of time Work conditions include both indoor and outdoor settings throughout the year Must follow all safety guidelines
Qualifications:
- General knowledge of building maintenance and repairs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to find and schedule contractors
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage time independently
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining facility
- Experience in cleaning buildings or willingness to learn how to clean
Work Schedule:
Flexible schedule, Monday - Friday & Sunday evening (up to 32 hours per week) This person will help ensure that our facilities are safe, welcoming, and clean for all who gather here. The role is flexible and ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining sacred and community spaces.
