Backed by strong ownership and an excellent reputation for safety, operational excellence, and customer service, the company has experienced significant growth and is entering its next phase of expansion. The systems, leadership structure, and operational discipline required to scale a growing business are different from those required to build it. We are seeking an experienced Vice President & General Manager to lead that next chapter. This is not a traditional operations role. This is a business leadership role. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the overall performance of the business—including profitability, operations, customer relationships, safety, leadership development, capital management, and strategic growth. Working closely with ownership and executive leadership, this individual will have the autonomy to build systems, develop leaders, improve financial performance, and help shape the long-term direction of the organization. What Success Looks Like Within your first 12-24 months, you'll be expected to: Build a high-performing leadership team capable of supporting continued growth. Improve operational efficiency, fleet utilization, and overall business performance. Increase EBITDA through disciplined financial and operational execution. Strengthen employee engagement, accountability, and customer retention. Develop scalable systems, processes, and leadership structures. Position the organization for expansion into complementary infrastructure and specialty service offerings. What You'll Be Responsible For As Vice President & General Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and long-term success of the organization. Business Performance Own company-wide P&L performance. Develop annual operating plans, budgets, and forecasting models. Drive EBITDA growth through operational excellence and disciplined execution. Improve gross margins, labor productivity, fleet utilization, and overall profitability. Monitor job costing, overhead expenses, and key business performance metrics. Leadership & Operations Lead all field and office operations. Build, develop, and mentor operational leaders throughout the organization. Create a culture of accountability, integrity, safety, and continuous improvement. Oversee operations, dispatch, project execution, estimating, scheduling, and fleet utilization. Improve operational efficiency, productivity, and organizational performance. Develop scalable systems, processes, and leadership structures to support future growth. Customer & Strategic Growth Serve as the executive relationship manager for key customers and strategic accounts. Strengthen customer retention and long-term partnerships. Support business development initiatives and market expansion opportunities. Evaluate opportunities to expand into complementary infrastructure and specialty service offerings. Safety & Capital Management Champion a safety-first culture focused on accountability, training, and continuous improvement. Oversee fleet utilization, equipment replacement planning, and capital investments. Evaluate ROI on major capital expenditures. Optimize fleet performance and capital deployment to maximize return on company assets. QualificationsRequired 10+ years of progressive executive or senior leadership experience within construction, utility contracting, heavy civil, excavation, industrial services, infrastructure, equipment rental, or related industries. Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional operations with full P&L responsibility. Proven track record of improving EBITDA, profitability, and operational performance. Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and performance management. Experience leading field operations, office personnel, and leadership teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Proven ability to develop leaders, build accountability, and create high-performing teams. Highly Preferred Industry Background Candidates with experience in one or more of the following industries are strongly encouraged to apply: Utility Contracting Heavy Civil Construction Underground Utilities Infrastructure Construction Industrial Services Specialty Contracting Equipment Rental Fleet Operations Environmental Services Union Construction Hydro Excavation or Vacuum Excavation Ideal Previous Titles Qualified candidates may currently hold or have previously held positions such as: Vice President of Operations Vice President of Field Operations General Manager Regional General Manager Division Manager Business Unit Leader Regional Operations Director Area Manager District Manager Director of Operations Branch Director President Chief Operating Officer (COO) Preferred Executive Experience We're particularly interested in leaders who have successfully: Owned full P&L responsibility for a $20M
