Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
This is a professional position responsible for supervising the Case management and Support Coordination programs and serves as first line supervisor to assigned staff. Will assist and make recommendations to upper management staff for program design and implementation and for related personnel management and budgetary issues.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services related field preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services related field required. 2. Two years previous experience in working with children and families in community mental health required. Additionally, one year experience in working with children and families with intellectual developmental disabilities required. 3. Minimum one year formal or informal supervisory experience required. 4. Current valid professional license/certification in the State of Michigan preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. Ability to express themselves both orally and in writing. 2. Ability to use good judgment and the knowledge of interviewing, engagement, sustaining, and other basic social work practices. 3. Knowledge of how mental health professionals and their specific expertise contribute to mental health service delivery. Demonstrated ability to set and meet outcome objectives. 4. Ability to plan ahead and organize time effectively. 5. Ability to problem solve and make decisions, especially during crisis situations 6. Must have a working knowledge of all SFS programs. 7. Ability to manage multiple priorities, function independently and demonstrate good follow through. 8. Ability to work positively and productively as a member of a team with colleagues, supervisors and agency staff. 9. Knowledge of community mental health treatment and intellectual development disabilities programs and their continuum of care. 10. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices including personnel and systems management. 11. Ability to effectively represent the agency as a professional in the community and work cooperatively with partner agencies. 12. Demonstrated ability to set and meet outcome objectives 13. Must be computer literate. 14. Capacity for developing autonomy and leadership in supervisees. 15. Interest and willingness to continue with personal and professional growth and skill development. 16. Ability and willingness to work with all members of the community regardless of race, gender, age, cultural, or ethnic back ground. 17. Familiarity with all Lifespan Clinical Services programs, eligibility requirements and scope as well as with Starfish Family Services programs preferred. 18. Ability to manage multiple priorities, function independently and demonstrate good follow through. 19. Ability to work positively and productively as a member of a team with colleagues, supervisors and agency staff. 20. Maintenance of ethical and professional standardsPRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for administration of all case management and support coordination programs and supervision of corresponding program staff. 2. Acts as first line supervisor to professional staff for the entire service site and coordinates operation with Support Services Supervisor. Assumes responsibility of facility in absence of Program Director. 3. Assist and make recommendations to upper-management staff for program design and implementation and for related personnel management and budgetary issues. 4. Exercise independent judgment and substantial autonomy. 5. Works collaboratively with other management staff within site, team and within the agency. 6. Hires, trains, develops, schedules activities, evaluates and supervises the work of professional and paraprofessional personnel engaged in direct services work with clients. Recommends termination of assigned staff. 7. Assign cases and review progress with staff; consult with staff on problem cases. 8. Assist in developing operating budgets and ensure clinic operates within it. 9. Handle disciplinary matters and assure staff and programmatic compliance with Clinic policies/procedures. 10. Work with support services staff to ensure program needs are met. 11. Assist in designing/implementing new programs under supervision of Program Director. 12. Act as liaison to external stakeholders (e.g. service organizations, referral sources, funding and regulatory bodies). 13. Participate in public relations/marketing activities as needed. 14. Through direct contact and supervision of staff, ensures Lifespan has a positive relationship with all community groups, organizations, and programs. 15. Participate in agency meetings, training, and other functions as needed or requested. 16. Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstances. 17. Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management or required by the team.NOTE:
