Job Summary:
About the Role The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure a high quality customer experience for our guests, including food quality, health and sanitation, and general guest service. What You'll Do Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position. Supervise the Residential Dining Center during assigned shifts and ensure the highest standards of customer service are being met. Supervise and give direction to Dining Services employees and Student Managers. Provide training and guidance for employees. Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines according to local, county, state, and federal food code guidelines, including but not limited to proper handwashing; correct single-use glove use; uniform standards; general cleanliness; date marking; temperature documentation; and corrective actions as needed. Summer duties are based on operational needs, including but not limited to Contract Services, Catering, Culinary, Deliveries, and Retail. Assist with ordering food and food-related supplies for Anderson Commons. Assist in menu forecasting and menu planning. Ensure documentation of product usage and record usage in menu management software. Assist with planning and execution of Dining Services programs and special events. Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum two years of experience in food service, hospitality, dining services, or a related customer service environment; High school diploma or equivalent; Minimum one year of experience in providing work direction, training, or supervision to employees; ServSafe® or similar food safety course certificate or pass ServSafe® exam within the first three months of employment. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles and ability to uphold them in a high volume, dynamic operation; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively supervise and motivate a diverse workforce, including student employees; Strong basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, menu/inventory management systems, and point-of-sale systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in hospitality management, foodservice management, business, or a related field.; Three or more years of progressively responsible foodservice experience; Experience supervising employees in a high-volume dining, restaurant, hospitality, or retail operation; Experience working in higher education dining services; Experience using menu/inventory management or food production software. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Foodservice operations and best practices; Food safety and sanitation principles; Customer service standards and guest experience management; Employee training and performance management; Conflict resolution and problem solving; Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; Food production and service workflows; Applicable local, state, and federal food code requirements; Cash handling and point-of-sale systems; Broad range of food production skills including fundamental knowledge of food service equipment; Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
