Oversees the collection of rents and payment of bills, taxes and insurance for properties, and provides property owners with reports on finances and the status of properties. Directs leasing operations, or equipment and machinery rentals, for a company or business. Determines charges and prepares rental or lease agreements; supervises inventory, equipment maintenance and recordkeeping for leasing operations.

Multifamily rentals. Seeking highly skilled Controller to lead our financial operations within the realm of real estate development and property management. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader who can oversee all accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive strategic financial planning. As a key member of our executive team, you will champion financial integrity, optimize cash flow, and support sustainable growth through meticulous financial management and innovative analysis.
Duties:
Oversee all daily accounting functions for the company's real estate development and property management operations, reporting directly to the Owner. Own real estate development accounting and property accounting end-to-end, including month-end close and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for ownership. Supervise the accounting team, including an Accounting Manager and bookkeeping staff, along with designated Operations and HR functions. Manage all payroll and human resources duties, utilizing ADP for payroll processing and HR support. Serve as the primary point of contact with outside CPA firm, and manage other external service providers and associated costs. Underwrite new development deals, including building budgets and proforma models for presentation to banks and lenders for construction financing. Work directly with banks and financial institutions to secure both construction and permanent financing for development projects. Review monthly construction loan draw packages prior to submission to lenders. Calculate and process monthly developer and asset management fees, and ensure proper working capital is established and maintained across projects. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures for development and property accounting, and manage general ledger analysis, including proper fixed asset classification. Maintain the fixed asset system, including monthly updates, analysis, and recording of depreciation. Ensure timely payment of personal property taxes and filing of annual tax reports with government agencies. Manage insurance renewals and coverage across the property and development portfolio. Utilize and help optimize Sage as the company's core accounting platform. •Sage Intacct and Procore experience.
