Job Description

The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish. As a key member of Tribeca Campus Program team, the Community Life Supervisor (Supervisor) supports the team in providing a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed community that fosters positive and growing relationships with God and others. The Supervisor builds strong teamwork and ministry culture. Ensures guests are warmly welcomed and properly oriented to the services offered and Community Life Guidelines. Supports/sustains standards of excellence for physical safety (fire safety, crisis intervention, etc.) program operations. Ensures effective and timely guest care and achievement of targeted outcomes. Collaborates across department/divisions (e.g., Clinical Services, Volunteers Services, Facilities). Upholds recordkeeping and reporting standards. Support Campus Leader and function as lead staff when necessary. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide direct staff support and supervision to Community Life department. Assist with weekly scheduling and ensure all shifts are adequately staffed. Ensure staff complete required training, including organizational goals and values, program operations, scheduling, health and safety, conflict resolution, professional boundaries, client confidentiality, etc. Ensure staff huddles are conducted at the beginning and end of each shift. Attend monthly team meetings and monthly Supervisor's Meetings in-person. Oversee sign in/out logs and appropriate identification to authorize access and move around the campus. Reinforce TBM's Health and Safety standards. Create name-knowing relationships with guests. Ensure guests are provided with any needed hygiene products, towels, and clothing. Ensure volunteers are welcomed, understand safety protocols, and are connected with the staff member overseeing their time and area of service. Foster supportive and positive communication and boundaries between staff and guests. Ensure program recordkeeping and reporting meet TBM standards and protocols. Uphold a high standard of data integrity and confidentiality. Ensure fire safety, census, and guest data are accurately recorded throughout and before completing every shift, including fire safety logs, Community Life notes, and incident reports.
Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday:
11:30pm-8:00am (Sunday/Monday Off)
Requirements:
Embrace's the organization's Statement of Faith. Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, human services, or other relevant areas preferred, or a combination of education and additional work experience. 3+ years' experience in a ministry, non-profit, or human services team environment. Strong customer service skills. Excellent conflict resolution and reporting skills. Computer & email proficiency.
Preferred:
Current or attainable withing first 6 months: Mental Health First Aid, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR, F-80 Fire Safety Certification, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed Care.
