Job Description

Provides a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff to work, learn, and live. Protects life and property on campus through measured enforcement of law and policy in an equitable manner. Patrols campus and responds to calls for protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, and general service calls. As a Community Service Officer, you will be on a small team with big responsibilities - taking action when unsafe behaviors are observed and responding to emergency situations. We will rely on you to handle calls across the entire campus, deter crime, and build relationships. To thrive, you must build strong community relationships that ensure everyone feels safe, supported, and treated fairly.
Department/Division Overview:
Provide service functions to support the general safety of the university community. Patrol an assigned area and respond to radio and/or telephonic calls for routine and/or emergency assistance in all matters. Perform internal and external public safety functions. Perform investigations as necessary.
Responsibilities:
Monitors public safety by patrolling campus. Assists community members in need of aid including medical assistance, lockouts, resetting breakers, jumpstarting vehicles jump starts, and obtaining propane and lighting fire pits. Monitors and addresses traffic and parking issues. Unlocks, locks, and checks buildings for security. Conducts preliminary investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents and interviews victims, witnesses, and suspects. Prepares incident and crime reports written according to professional standards. Testifies in court on criminal and civil matters affecting the interests of the university Provides safe rides and medical transports. Responds to fire alarms and intruder alarms. Provides positive public relations while interacting with community members, visitors, the Granville Police Department, and the Granville Fire Department. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or
GED Valid Driver's License Preferred Requirements:
(Optional) Vocational or technical training or degree in public safety fields Firefighter Certification, EMT Certification, Police Officer Certification 1-3 years working in Public Safety Prior training or experience in a higher education environment Why Choose Denison?
