Program Description Safe Haven Youth Ranch is a 24-bed trauma-focused residential program that provides a unique, holistic approach to healing and recovery. We integrate evidence-based trauma treatment interventions, 4-H youth development programming, and individualized behavior skills training as an alternative treatment model for youth who have experienced severe abuse and neglect. Currently, we serve male youth between the ages of 10-17. We are seeking a Residential Shift Supervisor with strong judgment, leadership, and decision-making skills to foster a safe, trauma-informed care environment. This role ensures individualized recovery and resilience for all youth in care while providing training, coaching, and supervision to Direct-Care Staff.

Hempstead, Texas 77445 Reporting to: Residential Program Manager The Residential Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shift operations, supervising Residential Direct-Care Staff, and ensuring the safety and well-being of youth in care. Qualifications Must be at least 25 years of age and physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED, 3 years of experience in a residential setting, and at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in human services or a mental health-related field, 1 year of experience in a residential setting, and 1 year of supervisory experience in a residential setting. Responsibilities House Management Ensure compliance with Residential Child-Care Licensing Minimum Standards, local Health Department, and Fire Safety Standards at all times. Youth Care and Treatment Services Maintain strict confidentiality of youth and staff information. Report suspected child abuse or neglect immediately to the Director of Residential Services and the Child Abuse Hotline. Assist with intake and discharge processes, including youth orientation (campus tour, safety drills, possession checks, and documentation). Collaborate with the Treatment Team to provide high-quality, individualized care. Implement youth Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and skills training plans. Provide 1:1 direct care services for youth requiring higher levels of support. Encourage participation in youth-guided care programming. Coordinate daily schedules and routines with leadership and case managers. Dispense and document medications as directed by physicians; ensure secure storage of all medications. Maintain continuous awareness of youth activities and ensure appropriate supervision for safety and well-being. Provide crisis intervention, utilizing de-escalation techniques and approved restraint protocols when necessary. Apply counseling and redirection skills, including active listening, boundary setting, and positive reinforcement. Administer first aid and emergency interventions when required. Uphold confidentiality in compliance with laws, licensing standards, and SHY Ranch policies. Staff Development and Management Provide supervision, coaching, and leadership to Residential Direct-Care Staff. Serve as a mentor and model trauma-informed care practices. Ensure staff understand and adhere to SHYR policies and youth service plans. Deliver constructive performance feedback and document employee issues as needed. Cover direct-care responsibilities in staff absences. Facilitate daily pre- and post-shift briefings. Ensure staff accountability for youth safety and progress documentation. Oversee and review shift notes, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care. Team Working Relationships Intervene as needed to ensure staff and youth safety during crisis situations. Immediately report serious incidents or significant events to the Program Manager. Ensure smooth communication and continuity of care during shift changes. Foster professional, collaborative relationships with staff, management, volunteers, and service providers. Exhibit teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude consistent with SHY Ranch policies.
