Location Blackwood Campus Department Public Safety Days and Hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm Requisition Number Position Goals Community Service Officers will report directly to the Executive Director of Public Safety or their designee. Community Service Officers are responsible for the Department's communication activities including fixed and mobile radio operations, telephones, emergency telephones, the service call and complaint desk, emergency messenger service, identification cards, traffic violation reports, as well as acting as the College's switchboard, information center, transfer/refer of calls, and providing directions and instructions as necessary, data input and update. Job Description Welcome and respond to all inquiries from students, faculty, staff and visitors in a friendly and helpful manner. Ensure physical security by controlling access of associates and visitors, along with maintaining visitor control logs. Enforce Camden County College standards as they relate to loss prevention and safety procedures. Monitor designated areas using a range of techniques such as floor-walking and operating security camera systems. Conduct surveillance to detect, prevent, and assist with the violators of policy and notify appropriate authorities. Assist Public Safety Officers with conducting routine inspections of their assigned area(s) to maintain physical security and protection of assets. Answer multi-line telephone and forward security concerns to on duty Public Safety Officers. Serve as back-up cashier and data entry for Camden city campus concierge desk. Perform clerical duties as assigned pertaining to the Public Safety operation. Responsible for staffing the Public Safety Department's service call and complaint desk. Receive service calls, complaints, and incident reports from students, faculty, staff, campus visitors, and the general public. Accurately record important information for further action. Dispatch Public Safety Officers and other appropriate emergency response providers to serious incident locations. Coordinate emergency assistance communications. Monitor emergency telephones, CCTV video, and dispatch personnel in accordance with outlined procedures. Responsible for reporting any conditions and/or circumstances that may affect the operations of the department to supervisors. Maintain and organize detailed and accurate records and daily logs in accordance with office filing procedures. Processing identification cards and traffic violation reports. Issue daily situational representations to administrative personnel as well as generate emergency notifications for the College's emergency management team and predesignated stakeholders. Must be available to work outside of regular hours on an "on-call" basis during emergencies and periods of inclement weather; and work overtime when required to complete time critical assignments. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Public Safety and/or their designee. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/equivalency required. Minimum of one year experience in a customer service related field or Public Safety work environment is preferred. Good interpersonal and oral communication skills. Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the College Community, customers, and the general public. Ability to perform essential job functions during stressful situations. Skill, or ability to become proficient, in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to obtain certification from the State of New Jersey in CPR and First Aid prior to hire or during the probationary period.
