Additionally, the manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and supervision of a comprehensive summer playground program, mobile recreation unit program, and department special events. Further responsibilities include the supervision of three (3) full-time personnel, and over one hundred-fifty (150) part-time personnel, as well as budget management and purchasing functions, and the formation of community partnerships to enhance programming. The ideal candidate has the ability to manage a diverse staff and a wide variety of recreation programs, along with the passion to ensure the recreation needs of all individuals in Milwaukee are being met. ; ; ;
Salary Range:

Xiong, talent management specialist, with any questions: Responsibilities Guides, supervises and evaluates three (3) or more full-time staff to ensure professional growth and fulfillment of job duties and responsibilities. Supports staff in the recruitment, hiring, training, and retention of part-time employees. ; Assists the distribution of customer surveys and guides program adjustments/improvements based on customer feedback. ; Assesses community needs, investigates program trends and recommends program adjustments. Collaborate with the team to determine goals and objectives. Conducts regular site visits (evenings and weekends) to determine program effectiveness and to provide evaluation feedback and support to staff. Provides assistance to staff in the development, implementation, and monitoring of program budgets. Monitors revenue collection for assigned areas. Implements business practices and policies including fees and charges oversight, inventory control, and contracts. Assists with a thorough review of, and edits to the marketing materials and programs listed in seasonal activity guides. ; Investigates and responds to inquiries and complaints relating to citizen use of recreation programs. Establishes partnerships with other MPS departments, governmental units, and communitybased organizations to enhance program development and service delivery. ; Assists with Milwaukee Recreation activities as needed. ; Serves on various community or department committees as required and/or assigned. ; Actively supports the MPS Five Priorities for Success. ; Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited college or university in recreation management, athletic administration, sports management, education, or a related field. ; Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible full-time recreation experience in an urban setting, or one (1) year of full-time recreation experience in an urban setting with a Master¿s Degree. ; Certified First Aid and CPR/AED or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date. ; Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
