Job Description

Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-INTERNATIONAL SCHOLAR SERVICES
to administer a supportive environment for international scholars (exchange visitors) and students by providing information and professional guidance on J1/F1 immigration issues. To serve as a Responsible Officer (RO) and Designated School Official (DSO) for UAB international scholars and students on J1 and F1 visas. To advocate for international scholars by assisting with administrative issues that interfere with the accomplishment of their research objectives. To advise international exchange visitors on matters of immigration compliance and university policy. To serve as lead Training Program Liaison (TPL) with the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to onboard J-1 residents, fellow, and students. (
Annual Salary:
$43,890 - $71,320) Qualifications Bachelor s degree in International Studies, Pre-Law, Higher Education, Political Science, Public Administration or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Master's degree preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and pass a background check every four years as required by federal regulations for certification as Responsible Officer (RO).
