Job Description
District Representative
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, in addition to proficiency with Microsoft Office and PCs. A current driver's license and automobile liability insurance are mandatory. Knowledge of legislative culture and process is preferred. Prior experience with LCMS is a plus. A strong commitment to providing excellent service to constituents is necessary.
Before being hired, incumbents for this position may be required to participate in the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Employee Pull Notice Program and must complete a DMV Form INF 1101, which authorizes the release of the incumbent's driving record to the Senate Rules Committee. Those who drive on legislative business must carry a valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance at all times.
The Senate's core business hours are 9:00 a.m.
Final salary will be commensurate with experience and education. Seniority and significant experience are required to reach the higher end of the salary range.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
Under the direct supervision of the District Coordinator, the District Representative performs duties including, but not limited to, working with constituents, district organizations, local governments, and state agencies. Applicants must be well organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional working relationships.DUTIES:
Under the direct supervision of the District Coordinator, the ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work in a fast-paced, professional environment, and provide top-notch constituent services. The District Representative will perform duties including, but not limited to, effectively communicating Senator McNerney's position on issues affecting the district and attending events and meetings with the Senator, or on the Senator's behalf, as assigned. The District Representative must stay informed on district issues by engaging in community outreach, continuously monitoring local news sources, and tracking constituent input. The position is also responsible for helping create and maintain a feedback loop by gathering constituent feedback, identifying community concerns, and ensuring the Senator and senior staff remain informed and responsive to the needs of the district.DESIRABLE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work professionally with a diverse range of individuals throughout the district and be comfortable using various technology platforms, including LCMS, OneDrive, Outlook, SMS text messaging, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and other office and communication tools.ABILITY TO
Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, analytical skills, and knowledge of the legislative process. The ideal candidate is creative; detail orientated, and able to handle multiple projects and work well, individually and collaboratively, with a variety of people.EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required. Legislative experience preferred.
