Director of Public Works/City Engineer Peckham & McKenney Gardena, CA Job Details $196,128 - $250,308 a year 3 hours ago Qualifications Team leadership Supervising experience Leading team collaboration initiatives Professional Engineer Full Job Description The City of Gardena, California (population approximately 61,000) is a highly urbanized and diverse community approximately 13 miles from downtown Los Angeles bordered by I-110 (Harbor Freeway), SR-91 (Artesia Freeway) and I-405 (San Diego Freeway). While conveniently situated in Los Angeles County and a hub for businesses, the City's beautiful landscaping; family oriented neighborhoods; mix of multi- and single-family homes; mix of senior, single, and family residents; cultural and community events for all ages; numerous parks and public facilities; and renown specialty restaurants and local boutiques also provide a high quality of life for residents. For delivering services, accomplishing projects, and working with an excellent team of individuals, the City seeks an experienced Director of Public Works/City Engineer who is a collaborate team player and a people-person. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, a leader, and works in a transparent, supportive, and cooperative manner to accomplish responsibilities, manage the department, and complete projects. Required for the position is a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Civil Engineering or a related field; and at least five (5) years of increasingly-responsible professional experience in public works management, including at least two (2) years of experience in supervisory position; or an equivalent combination of education or experience. Also required is certification as a Professional Engineer (PE). The salary is $196,128 to $250,308 based on experience and qualifications. The City provides also an excellent benefit package.
