A Fiscal Director or Budget Director manages the budget and finance department of government agencies or cities. They manage the operations of the budget and finance department; including leading analysts and staff. They review and make recommendations on budget requests and options in terms of policy, programs and objectives for the agency or city while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and statutes. They are responsible for the accumulation of data to support the development of financial analysis and budgeting, including the preparation of quarterly, monthly and annual financial performance measures.

The job of Director I, Fiscal Advisor in the District Business & Advisory Services Department is done for the purpose/s of providing targeted financial and accounting guidance and assistance to school districts' business managers and other educational agencies on a variety of matters related to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management and sound business operations as well as compliance with various statutory and reporting requirements. This job reports to the Assigned Administrator.LOCATION

Analyzes reviews and recommends the approval or certification of financial reports (e.g. annual budgets, financial statements, reports for the Board, Superintendent, district administrators, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, filing reports, meeting compliance requirements, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions. Communicates with internal and external personnel (e.g. school district business officials, board, CBOs, other administrators, auditors, public agencies, community members, etc.) for the purpose of recommending actions, implementing procedures and/or maintaining services and programs. Compiles data from a variety of sources (e.g. staff, public agencies, school districts, etc.) for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with organization policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components. Conducts internal audits and analysis of cash flows, fiscal trends, economic conditions and legislative updates (e.g. general and special funds, etc.) for ensuring program operations are within budget and in accordance with fiscal practices. Facilitates in meetings, workshops and seminars (e.g. budgeting, accounting, auditing, business issues, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.SEE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MORE INFORMATION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Five (5) years of fiscal operations experience including budgeting, auditing, and accounting, with increasing levels of responsibility. Chief Financial Officer/ Business Officer, Accounting Manager/Controller in school district or educational institution preferred.Education:
Degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related area or certificate in Accounting required. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.Equivalency:
