Job Description
The Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers (Coalition OC) is seeking an experienced and collaborative Director of Health Information Technology (HIT) to provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise across our health information technology, interoperability, data, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital health initiatives. Coalition OC is a membership organization representing 21 nonprofit organizations, including 20 Community Health Centers operating 106 sites throughout Orange County and collectively serving more than 340,000 patients annually. Our mission is to unite health centers and partners, amplify their collective voice, and strengthen their capacity to ensure every person has access to high-quality care. About the Position Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, the Director of HIT will lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of HIT programs and technical assistance services that strengthen the capacity of Coalition OC and our member health centers. This position will support health centers in optimizing technology, leveraging data for quality improvement and value-based care, advancing interoperability, adopting emerging technologies, and navigating evolving healthcare requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead Coalition OC's HIT programs, projects, grants, contracts, and technical assistance initiatives. Serve as the lead for Coalition OC's Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN) program and oversee implementation of HRSA-defined goals, milestones, performance measures, and reporting requirements. Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for member health centers on HIT, interoperability, digital health, data strategy, EHR optimization, health information exchange, analytics, AI, telehealth, and emerging technologies. Provide technical assistance, consultation, training, and implementation support to member health centers. Lead efforts to strengthen Coalition OC's internal data infrastructure, reporting capabilities, dashboards, analytic resources, and performance measurement. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with EHR vendors, Qualified Health Information Organizations (QHIOs), health plans, government agencies, technology partners, and regional collaboratives. Represent Coalition OC in regional, state, and national meetings, workgroups, and advisory committees related to HIT and digital transformation. Collaborate across Coalition OC departments to identify opportunities for technology solutions, automation, workflow improvement, and enhanced use of data. Manage HIT-related grant deliverables, reporting requirements, budgets, implementation timelines, and project performance. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: A bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Information Technology, Public Health, or a related field; master's degree preferred. At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in health information technology, health informatics, healthcare analytics, digital health, or healthcare operations. Experience leading healthcare technology initiatives, projects, or programs. Knowledge of EHR systems, interoperability, health information exchange, healthcare analytics, quality reporting, and value-based care. Experience managing grants, contracts, and externally funded projects. Strong project management, facilitation, consulting, and relationship-management skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions for diverse audiences. Experience working with Community Health Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), safety-net organizations, or healthcare delivery systems is preferred. Position Details This is a full-time, exempt, onsite position based in Orange County, California. Travel throughout Orange County and nationally is required, and occasional evening and weekend availability is necessary for meetings, conferences, and events.
