The City of Santa Clara (pop. 133,000), located in the heart of Silicon Valley just 45 miles south of San Francisco, seeks an Assistant Director of Public Works. Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director will oversee approximately 80 employees responsible for street and building maintenance, fleet management, and other operations. A key senior leader, the Assistant Director will help establish priorities, advance department goals and initiatives, and ensure delivery of essential services. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in public works maintenance, facilities, fleet, or related municipal services. A strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement are critical. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable advancing long-term strategies and addressing day-to-day operational needs. As a people leader, they will be approachable, engaged, and committed to creating an environment where employees can succeed. Requires six years of increasingly responsible experience in business management/administration, operations, or maintenance, including two years of management or supervisory experience, and a bachelor's degree. Public Works or similar operational experience is highly desirable.

Salary:
