Job Description

The Assistant Director of Therapeutic Programs & Services provides clinical, programming, and operational leadership for FCYE's therapeutic services and programs. This position assists the Director in overseeing all therapeutic programming, including After-School Programs, Summer Programs, Therapeutic Support Services, Temporary Care Services, Supervised Visitation, Family Support Services, and other Advanced Behavioral Health (ABH) credentialed services. The Assistant Director serves as a key clinical leader responsible for ensuring quality service delivery, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, youth safety, clinical documentation, and successful outcomes for youth for programming. This position directly supervises the Therapeutic Program Manager (Clinical), clinicians, and therapeutic support specialist while maintaining collaborative relationships with
DCF, ABH.
Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight Assist the Director in the oversight and management of all therapeutic and supportive service programs. Provide clinical leadership and guidance to program staff regarding trauma-informed interventions, behavioral support strategies, crisis management, and treatment planning. Ensure therapeutic programming aligns with DCF, ABH, and FCYE standards and best practices. Monitor program effectiveness and client outcomes through ongoing evaluation and quality assurance activities. Support the development and implementation of new therapeutic initiatives and service models. Ensure youth receive individualized, culturally responsive, and clinically appropriate services. Directly supervise the Therapeutic Program Manager (Clinical), clinicians, case coordinators, and therapeutic support staff. Conduct weekly supervision meetings and performance evaluations. Provide clinical consultation and coaching regarding complex cases and behavioral concerns. Support training, and retention of therapeutic staff. Ensure staff maintain required licensure, certifications, credentialing, and professional development requirements. Develop staff training plans related to trauma-informed care, foster care services, crisis intervention, behavioral health, and youth development. DCF Case Management & Clinical Coordination Oversee intake, assessment, and service planning processes for referred youth and families. Review psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, discharge summaries, and other clinical documentation. Ensure timely communication with DCF social workers, supervisors, attorneys, providers, foster parents, and biological families Participate in Annual Case Reviews (ACRs), treatment planning meetings, provider meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings. Monitor youth progress and ensure services are responsive to changing needs. Assist with crisis response and case consultation for high-risk situations. Compliance & Credentialing Assist the Director in maintaining compliance with all
DCF, ABH.
Support credentialing and recredentialing activities for ABH-approved services. Conduct regular chart audits and documentation reviews. Ensure incident reports, critical event reports, and mandated reporting requirements are completed accurately and timely. Monitor compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and clinical standards. Assist with preparation for audits, site visits, and accreditation reviews. Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Develop and implement quality assurance measures to evaluate service effectiveness. Analyze program data, outcomes, utilization trends, and performance indicators. Identify areas for program improvement and implement corrective action plans. Prepare reports for leadership, funders, DCF, and regulatory agencies. Ensure continuous quality improvement initiatives are implemented throughout the department. Community & Stakeholder Relations Serve as a liaison with DCF personnel, ABH representatives, schools, providers, foster families, and community organizations. Represent FCYE at meetings, conferences, trainings, and collaborative initiatives. Assist in developing partnerships that enhance services and opportunities for youth and families. Support outreach efforts and program expansion opportunities. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with budget monitoring and resource allocation for therapeutic programs. Review staff schedules and program coverage needs. Ensure accurate maintenance of client records and program documentation. Assist in policy development and annual policy reviews. Perform other duties assigned by the Therapeutic Program Director, COO, and CEO. Job Requirements Master's Degree in Social Work required. Licensure Must possess and maintain Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience working with youth, adolescents, families, foster care, behavioral health, or child welfare populations. Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or program management experience. Experience working with DCF-involved youth and families strongly preferred. Experience with ABH credentialing, licensing, audits, and regulatory compliance strongly preferred. Experience providing clinical supervision and case consultation preferred. Extensive knowledge of trauma-informed care and child welfare systems. Strong understanding of DCF policies, procedures, and service expectations. Knowledge of behavioral health treatment planning and clinical documentation. Crisis intervention and risk assessment expertise. Strong leadership, coaching, and staff development skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to build effective relationships with youth, families, staff, and external stakeholders. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record/documentation systems. Compensation/Benefits/ Work Environment $76,000.00 annually
