Director Domestic Violence Programs 1000 Bridgeport Avenue, 3rd floor, Shelton, CT - Shelton, CT 06484 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Apply Director Domestic Violence Programs Lead with purpose. Drive impact. Empower survivors. BHcare is seeking a passionate and strategic Director of Domestic Violence Services to lead our comprehensive domestic violence programs, including the Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services (UCDVS) and the HOPE Family Justice Center (HFJC) . This is a unique opportunity to shape innovative, trauma-informed services that support survivors and strengthen communities across Connecticut. About the Role As Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across all domestic violence programs. You'll guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure high-quality, victim-centered services, and drive innovation, growth, and community partnerships. Your leadership will directly impact the safety, empowerment, and self-determination of survivors.
What You'll Do:
Strategic & Program Leadership Set vision, strategy, and measurable goals for domestic violence services Identify and lead program expansion, integration, and innovation opportunities Ensure alignment with BHcare, CCADV, and OVS standards Operations & Compliance Oversee operations across multiple locations, including shelters, courts, housing programs, and community sites Ensure regulatory, contractual, and accreditation compliance Develop and improve policies and procedures Financial & Grant Management Support and monitor program budgets Lead grant writing, reporting, and compliance activities Team Leadership Supervise, mentor, and develop staff Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth Ensure effective staffing models to meet service demands Community Engagement Represent BHcare in the community and with key stakeholders Build and maintain partnerships across the domestic violence ecosystem Participate in state coalition initiatives Fundraising & Visibility Partner with Development on fundraising efforts Engage donors and community supporters Promote program impact and awareness Direct Service & Support Provide backup support to frontline staff as needed Maintain required certification as a battered women's counselor
What You Bring:
Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Human Services or related field) 5+ years of progressive experience in human services (domestic violence strongly preferred) Proven leadership and staff management experience Strong knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and systems Experience with program management, budgeting, and grants Skills & Strengths Exceptional communication and public speaking skills Strategic thinker with strong project management capabilities Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities Collaborative leader who builds strong, mission-driven teams Commitment to equity, ethics, and survivor-centered care Why Join BHcare?
