Job Description

The individual in this position is responsible for administering the City of Griffin Main Street Program, coordinating downtown revitalization efforts, and promoting economic vitality through the Main Street Approach. He or she will serve as staff liaison to the Griffin Main Street Board and work closely with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Griffin-Spalding Business & Tourism Association, Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Main Street Program, and other stakeholders and community organizations to advance downtown initiatives. Essential duties include the following. Responsible for the execution, administration, and accreditation of the City of Griffin Main Street Program. Leads all aspects of the Main Street Program, including the Main Street Approach and transformation strategies related to economic vitality, design, promotion, and organization. Completes all annual Main Street assessments, accreditation requirements, reports, and related program documentation required by Main Street America, Georgia Main Street Program, and Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Serves as staff liaison to the Main Street Board, including preparing agendas, coordinating meetings, maintaining records, developing relationships with board members, communicating key initiatives, and assisting with implementation of board priorities and work plans. Completes a variety of administrative tasks including, but not limited to; purchasing, record-keeping, budget coordination, grant administration, event sponsorships and tracking, and preparation of reports required by the Main Street Board and the City of Griffin. Assists the Main Street Board with developing and executing the Main Street Work Plan, including downtown areas, streetscapes, sidewalks, parks, trails, beautification, placemaking, wayfinding, public art, and related downtown enhancement initiatives. Serves as the City liaison for downtown merchants, property owners, business owners, and stakeholders by facilitating requests, answering questions, sharing downtown information, and connecting stakeholders with available resources, programs, incentives, and partner organizations. Establishes and maintains partnerships with sponsors, donors, local business owners, downtown property owners, nonprofit organizations, civic organizations, tourism partners, and other community stakeholders to positively represent Downtown Griffin, secure financial support, and advance downtown initiatives. Develops, coordinates, promotes, and executes downtown events, festivals, promotions, and engagement activities designed to increase visitation, strengthen community connections, and support downtown businesses. Oversees downtown event logistics, sponsorship fulfillment, volunteer coordination, vendor coordination, event evaluation, and related event preparation activities. Identifies, researches, prepares, administers, and reports on grants related to Main Street initiatives, downtown development, beautification, placemaking, historic preservation, and event funding opportunities. Coordinates volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision at events, and recognition efforts for downtown initiatives and events. Participates in Downtown Development Authority meetings and collaborates with DDA leadership to support downtown revitalization and economic vitality initiatives. Participates in Griffin-Spalding Business & Tourism Association meetings, Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce activities, and other partner organizations to strengthen downtown partnerships and support economic growth. Attends Historic Preservation Commission meetings as needed to participate in efforts to maintain the integrity of Downtown Griffin's historic character and stay informed on projects impacting downtown development and preservation. Coordinates downtown marketing campaigns, business spotlights, promotions, and public awareness efforts in collaboration with the Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator. Develops content ideas and promotional opportunities that highlight downtown businesses, events, attractions, revitalization efforts, and investment activities. Works collaboratively with the Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator to ensure downtown initiatives align with citywide branding, marketing, communication, and engagement objectives. Assists with City Ambassador initiatives, citywide community engagement efforts, public events, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and special projects as assigned. Conducts tours of downtown as needed. Executes and embodies the City of Griffin's mission and vision and the Main Street Program's mission to foster and enhance Downtown Griffin's authentic identity and historic character. Performs other related duties as assigned.
